Have you ever looked up your secondary school crush/1st girlfriend on social media & thought 'dodged a bullet there'?

I will admin I have. I was an atypical nerd at school, very few friends but one of the pretty popular girls always seemed to look out for me & yeah, I had a crush on her. I kinda think she was the reason I wasn't really bullied at school compared to some of the other nerds.

Anyhow, felt a bit nostalgic a few weeks ago and searched for her on Facebook & well yeah I feel if I ever had a shot back then, not taking it was probably the best thing. Yeah it's a shallow view but I'm human and in some degree we're all shallow.
 
Last year I did look up a few girls I liked when I was at school, but to be honest most of them look like they're doing well for themselves and they still look pretty good today Tbf :p.
 
I can't find my first girlfriend anywhere on social media. And I have looked, quite hard.

I saw my second girlfriend on the train recently and went into shock. She looked good, I was too embarrassed to speak to her.

EDIT: Just found one picture, it's from six years ago though. She looks the same, though she's put on a little weight, nothing more else to say really. Would be interested to see a more recent one, but clearly she's not one for putting pics of herself on the internet much.

Think the NCIS episode where Gibbs tells the others after looking at the screen of an easy on the eyes person describes my situation best; "[insert name of person here] has good taste."

Not girlfriend, but certainly a crush or two, and... They're looking good still. Just my actual girlfriend/wife is cuter and remains so. So not really Dodged a Bullet (certainly not in terms of looks or wellbeing) but certainly not a case of Missed Opportunity either. :)
 
Meta (Facebook sigh) is such a dangerous tool for this...browsing through the 'People You May Know' and end up clicking to all the names you had forgotten about.
 
Never, i think back at poor use of opportunies that were under my nose.

A girl that i would consider model good looks was very keen on me and 25 years later i still kick myself for not asking her out or something.
 
I don't go through the filter screens at work to see how the turds I've flushed away ended up, so why would I look up old flames on Farcebook?
I have run into a few previous partners and some ended up ridiculously hot, with good jobs, amazing husbands and all the things people seem to want... but I have ended up with two gorgeous daughters, so anything else is completely immaterial!
 
My school / sixth form girlfriend was called Debbie. I've looked up many Debbies on Facebook with the same surname but I don't think any of them was my ex. Now though, I have a few Debbies coming up as suggested friends. Do they know that I've been on their pages, and will my name be coming up as a suggested friend to them also?
 
No, but I did get a message some years back from my first serious girlfriend telling me that our Daughter had graduated university. Came as a bit of a surprise to me, as I didn't even know we had a Daughter.
 
Funny, I had a friend request come through from Facebook years ago from a girl I went out with when at secondary school.

I left secondary school in late 80's. Strange how people seek you out. For what gain
 
Last year i got a FB message from my first long-term girlfriend. Bear in mind it's been almost 25yrs since we broke up, it simply said, "Happy Birthday", it was my birthday, but it just seemed creepy AF; blocked.
 
Nope, I don't need to.

Seen most of them out and about over the last few years. Its clear time hast been too kind to them in their late 30's.

Ha same here. My wife showed me some of her exes and now I can crow about how lucky she is she got me instead of a fat bald guy with a gambling addiction!

I did a few years back, I was your typical Nerd/Geek but I refused to lack confidence and probably brought too much attention from everyone. there was this girl who stood me up when I was 16, 20 years later we started to chat again on facebook and it turns out she stood me up because of peer pressure and she did actually want to go out with me. She wanted to try again but by now she was a ham planet with 3 kids lol, I noped out of that
