Just listened to an excerpt from a us Military political analyst saying how we will soon be needing Russia in the fight between "everyone" and China.... Come 50 years or less....
Better not do too much damage.

Fair point. One that i can see becoming a bargaining chip soon.
Definitely bad news next winter for Europe.

It might actually spur European countries into becoming energy independent and ditching fossil fuels. I suspect Germany's ill-advised abandoning of nuclear power to be reviewed.

Does boggle the mind somewhat that we urinate money down the drain on London-centric toss like HS2 when we could be using the money to build nuclear power....it's not like this energy price issue has been a major surprise...the government was warned.

Oh definitely. Im amazed there are not plans to build more nuclear plants. As you say its mind boggling strategically.

Im sure in 6 months hopefully when this is all over, we will start seeing Green sustainable energy bundled in with "Defence rhetoric."

Only company wanting to build nuclear in the UK is EDF - all the rest pulled out so the projects got cancelled. Give it 5 years and the uk will have 3 nuclear power stations left working (Hinkney Point B, Heysham 1 and Hartlepool all due to close before 2025)

Sorry to break it to you but fossil fuels are going no where in the short to mid term.
We need to lean into fracking or coal until with have new nuclear or fusion reactors.

it’s always the same few posters that enjoy going against the grain on any thread in the forum, whether it be here, covid, politics. Same names every single time.

Yep and its weird watching some of the usual edgy/bantz/troll posters take this thread serious, get tilted and get upset.

I cant tell if its part of their troll or they posting in good faith.

Yep UK fracking rules about to be loosened, im sure of that... Thats a good ten years of gas right there.

Surprised energy firms that build them like edf don't run advertising campaigns about the latest reactors. Just seems the general public need to be educated on latest designs and their safety. People hear nuclear and immediately say no.

 they are best pals so unlikely

Recently the Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov had his giant yacht seized by the Germans but now his villa on the Italian island of Sardinia has also been seized reports the Italian news agency Ansa.
