Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

My etfs have been hammered ,my call and i called it wrong timing wise but the etfs have over 4000 companys in them so just have to hang on a while and maybe average down ,i know they say don't catch falling knives but..........
I'm so far down there's not much point taking it out. Ah well, one day Rodney we'll all be millionaires.

As long as you leave it where it is, while you are down, you haven't actually lost anything, that's how I look at it..

Can I use Vanguard for individual stocks? I just have the standard stocks and shares ISA account at the moment, or should I use something like Freetrade instead?

That probably depends on the amounts i.e. spread cost like forex
great app to mess around with, I dont get why RR isnt on there as its big but whatever

Im not sure on ETF as it reflects a pure value or index often but a unit trust can accumulate value especially via dividend reinvestment and do well because of it. I noticed FTSE funds were near highs recently (becase of that effect) so I trimmed them, seems now I should have used a chainsaw :p anyhow I dont mind a hold.
I heard on a usa show previously state simply, Uk outperformance which we havent heard in a long time its obviously related to commodities in that theme.
We don’t get much from russia versus Europe
Yep we are mostly relying on Norway apparently but collectively as a market, we are part of that cost.

I use vanguard and its just mutual funds and index funds that only trade in bulk once or twice a day ,or etfs like i have that can also be traded free in bulk or live for £7.50
dare not log in at the moment, it wont be pretty

Oof.

Think I may have to not look at the markets this week! Annoying I need to juggle some money around this week which will meen liquidating a bit of my S&S ISA and I really don't want to do it right now!

I sold some of my company shares back in July last year, expecting the world to end slightly more prematurely than others. They then sky-rocketed +31% and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself.

They're now trading 0.01% below what I sold for, the shrewd business man I am.

Unfortunately I still have a decent holding and I really needed to liquidate it by next month :o:(

I've been dipping in and out, so my portfolio looks worse than it is, as I just see the delta since I last bought in. I have to just keep telling myself I'm still up on the year

I'm writing off 2022.
I got 1 million krona in cash...... Gtg when something good happens .

Failing that I can use it to buy a pair of train tickets out of a nuclear crater.

Part of the shift to sanction heavily is to force companies to immediately reduce their risk exposure. It is likely to cause a bit of a blip initially but then as companies adapt the stock market should strengthen.
I suspect that dividends in 2022/23 are likely to be depressed due to global operational and supply costs as a result of the Ukraine and global instability.

What will happen is that food prices - due to the knock on effect of fertiliser price increases - will impact countries with large population vs farming ratios such as China.
