how to get rid of ants at home

so my mother has just phoned to say she has found ants under her cooker in the kitchen, i know they were in the garden on the slabs on the paths round the house. So any help on the best way to get rid of them both inside and outside ?

Having a property in Spain it's quite simple.

Never leave any food open, even a few grains of sugar on the kitchen counter or a drink spillage not properly cleaned up ... Otherwise you're inviting an invasion.

No food =no ants.
 
Trying to kill the ants directly is futile.. If there is food, the scouts will find it and leave a handy scent trail for the workers to follow.
 
Attacking the symptom (poison traps) rather than the cause is pointless.

You need to make sure your kitchen for example, is always really clean, or they will keep comming.

My niece is going down tomorrow to clean behind the appliances but will need to get the bait for her

She cleans every day but can’t pull out appliances so any crumbs get left. Will just need to get family to help more
