A new shaver needed

I have had my Panasonic ES RF41 battery shaver for quite a few years and it now sounds like it's had enough of shaving my chin.
I usually buy new foils and cutters every Xmas and last ones just before last xmas so as I see it it's not foils and cutter.

I am not going to pay Panasonic prices again along with the foils.

I have my eye set on a Braun series 3 3040 with slide trimmer which I need.

Has anyone got a Braun 3 or ideas of what I can buy - The Braun is around £55 but budget could go to £100 if anything else was worth that extra.

It must be a foil shaver -- (Where has the underline option gone ? )

Thanks

Which? Reviews, if you care for them, say the panasonic is better than tha Braun.

I have a Braun 7 series and it's a lot better than 3 series and Philips ones I've used in the past. Used to be able to get them on offer for under £100.

I had a similar dilemma had a 15year old panasonic es8161 linear motor 2 foil, foils were becoming £40
so, (e: last xmas) I bought the newer panasonic version es-ll21 frequently £50 sold by Amazon - linear/arc motor again, so supposedly better than rf31., foils will be about £25

Isn't a lot better than the older one whose motor sometimes seemed to shown signs of stress (had previously replaced battery £10)
used daily, it is quieter so listen to radio more comfortably.

it does have an annoying automatic power adjustment supposedly for higher/low density areas like it's ES-LV9 monster sibling with 4 foils
( I knew beforehand https://shavercheck.com/panasonic-arc-5-revision-e/ comments are great too )
it does seem a bit random as to when it operates though, so I may yet complain to amazon - just give me max power all the time.

it's closer&slower shave than older braun 3 series I also use, and pulls hairs less, when you look at the engineering on panasonic heads versus braun you can see why.
(braun has these sealed cassette heads too, effective manual cleaning is harder https://shavercheck.com/braun-series-7-new-vs-original/ )

Just refer to the many numerous recommend me a shaver thread that resurfaces every year for the Panasonic v the rest.

Thanks all.

I think this time round I am knocking Panasonic off the list - as said a foil and cutter kit is £40 - add £10 to that and you get a new shaver every year.
The Braun foil and cutter kit is around £23-29 for I assume a legit foil or £7 for a Chinese copy.

I will have to go into town this week so will call into Boots and see if they have a Braun in stock to look at.

The Panasonic is still working so it won't be binned yet but it does make a racket - Gave it a good clean today and a bit of oil and it sounds better so will see how it goes.

PS - I did say in OP that I wanted a slide up trimmer -My existing Panasonic has one which I find very useful and Pan 7 doesn't have one that I can see.

tech has changed with autosense gizmos(which seem a waste of time) and linear motors ... if you spend 10+ minutes a day using one it becomes important,
that's longer than my last commute.

foils on the older models are £40, but newer Pan it is the same price as braun ..... I suppose braun don't offer the try it or return type deals any more.

I've had quite a few electric shavers over the years, for daily use. And to date nothing has come close to the Panasonic for closeness, comfort, and the fact it holds charge way past a week, and my shave times are never a quick thing.
Yeah the foils aren't cheap, but better than having a sub par shaver. IMO. :)

I agree.

If you are intent on buying a Panasonic your best paying above the cost of the foil/cutter for something anyway.

I bought a Panasonic Arc 65 just over two years ago and have just had to replace the foil and cutter. I think it cost about £100 to buy and the new bits were around the £50 mark. I think they're excellent really, I'm quite annoyed I never went electric before, it's still so much cheaper than wet shaving and no more stupid face creams or stinging face.

I don't find any of them that good these days - it seems hard to get all of reliable, cost effective in the long run, comfortable and effective shave, good layout/good to hold all in one package - many do one thing well and so-so on the rest.

That surprises me since I've tried both the top end Braun and Phillips and ended up always going Panasonic because they really are that good.

Aside from Braun I've tried Philips, Remington, BaByliss, Whal, Panasonic and a few no-name brands like Kemei, etc. in recent years without great results - IIRC the Panasonic was fairly good but after a few months had reliability problems and then the battery died (which might have been a one off but still).

I have a Phillips rotary shaver, Williams branded.

Had it for 12+ years, never had to replace anything, still gives a good shave, and I have a toughish beard.

Used to have foil shavers, never liked them, got cut more than once with a ripped foil, never again.

Yeah. Never had a battery issue so perhaps you are right.
