Higher ping on new router

So i took the plunge and bought a high end router the tp x11000
However im getting higher pings than my conventional isp router.
I have tried firmware update, playing with Qos.
Any ideas guys?

Certianly:

ping is 2 on the standard isp router
ping is 3 on the tp link archer ax11000

Downloads are slower on this router especially with game acceleration.
There are some fluctuations also.

I have a static ip with my currrent isp, so i am not entirely sure if i have to configure this in my router.
This is strictly ethernet for now.

Yes it is. But on a £400 router you would expect better if not par results.
Also the download speed issue.
I am not technical with networking tbh , if someone that has the same router can help me out.
 
Don't know the the full functionality of your modem/routers but some possibilities maybe are... incorrect modem passthrough settings, DHCP conflicts, double nat, firewall settings? please write or a pic of your topology map
 
Turn of game acceleration and all that extra stuff, I never found those useful.

You haven't mentioned which ISP and what sort of modem it is, as above it could be an incorrect setting.

Why would you expect better ping results? Ping times are largely down to physical distances and network routing outside of your control. The difference between 2ms and 3ms is completely irrelevant but yes, I wouldn't necessarily expect ping times to increase. What are you pinging?

Numbers. We need numbers. What download speeds did you get with the old router? What do you get with the new router with game acceleration (what a load of absolute vapid guff!) enabled? What do you get with it disabled?

What made you buy a new router? Was the ISP supplied one not working properly? Who is your ISP? What internet connection do you have? FTTP? FTTC?

You're asking for help but not answering many questions or providing much detail. Just because a router costs £400 doesn't make it better than something that costs under £100.
 
I really can't understand why you're putting any effort into 3ms vs 2ms. It could go up to 30ms and you wouldn't notice unless the numbers were appearing on screen.

Ok so speedtest.net also dowloads speeds were 119mb now down to 85mb.
The downlaods increase to around 100mb without game accelrator.
The conventional router was working fine if not better.

People here want to help, but it's frustrating when the necessary information isn't supplied despite numerous requests.

I'd be inclined to return this new router and stick with the ISP one. You've said yourself that the ISP one was working fine, if not better than the new one.

You've still not managed to tell us who your ISP is, how you connect, or what the ISP router wasn't doing that made you feel the need to replace it. So knowing nothing about your requirements I recommend you get a Juniper MX150.
