Yemen is being bombed by Saudis.
Syria's Arab spring was caused by foreign powers.
I forgot Iraq - the creme de la creme.

My question is why is Ukraine getting special treatment?
If the US and allies invade a country, everything is fine. No one will make up bs like giving space in their house or giving them asylum instantly. But, hey, if it's Russia who are the invaders, it's a big NO NO.
Or, maybe because those people are Muslims. If it's Muslims being killed, it's alright. But, if it's European Christians being killed, that's a big NO NO.

Russia invaded Afghanistan > The US provided weapons to create Mujahideen. The US invaded Afghanstan > it's all good because they are trying to establish """" democracy """".

This Ukraine thread has reached 1950 pages. I am going to do a search in a bit and find out how many pages do we have on all those other countries I mentioned.

There are several threads in here covering Syria including the ISIL one at 474 pages. Personally I've been involved in supporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon. You are vastly over simplifying the events and causes of the conflict in Syria.

Ukraine war: Russia earns $97bn on energy exports since invasion

.......The European Union made up 61% of these imports, worth approximately $59bn :(

Frustrating there is no united effort in the West to address these situations, offset the impact on the countries most impacted, find other solutions even if it costs a bit up front and facilitate deeper and wider sanctions. Like with COVID short sighted stupidity, short attention span and just going to make a bigger mess in the long run.

Yes, the "good idea" of being less energy dependent on dodgy regimes in the Middle East seems to have been to become far more dependent one dodgy regimes which covers most of northern Europe and Asia.

Whereas anyone with a bit of brain would have been been able to predict that the best way to be energy independent would have been to no longer depend on imports in the first place.

That's the lobby power of the current energy model and the inertia of not changing anything. There is really no excuse for every hilltop in Europe not to have windmills, along with similar investment in storage dams etc.

How much of an increase/decrease is that compared to averages? Figures are meaningless without context..Russia still has bills to pay with money brought in.

You say nothing would have changed it, in that case Putins word means nothing.

Zelensky admits the only way this will end is with negotiation talks with Putin/Russia.
Zelensky has been requesting negotiation talks with Putin directly.

Best someone call Zelensky and tell him not to attempt any peace talks with Russia as Peter75 does not trust Putin, I guess it's a fight to the bitter end now as some of the guys at overclockers forums don't believe in peace talks(with Russia).

You said Putin wouldn't have invaded if Ukraine acquiesced to Russia's demands. I refuted this by explaining to you that Ukraine have been at war with Russia since 2014 and provided a link that gives a quick run down on exactly what has happened in Ukraine since. It reads like a "How to invade another country 101". Such greatest hits as ethnic cleansing, torture, conscription etc.

"In Crimea, Russia violated the first principle of international law – that countries may not acquire territory or change borders by force. Russia’s actions flagrantly violated its own international commitments including in: Article 2 of the United Nations Charter, the Helsinki Final Act and the Budapest memorandum. Their actions undermined and continue to undermine the security of us all. The passage of time will never make them acceptable.

Sadly, both people living in Crimea, and those who have been forced to flee by Russia’s persecution, continue to suffer from Russia’s ongoing illegal annexation. The de-facto authorities persecute and restrict the fundamental freedoms of ethnic and religious groups, including Crimean Tatars, with arbitrary arrests, torture and intimidation. At least 109 Ukrainian political prisoners remain in detention in Russia and Crimea.

Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and other ethnic and religious groups also continue to face cultural discrimination. Education in Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar languages is being ever more restricted. Despite a 2017 International Court of Justice order, that the Mejlis should be allowed to resume its activities, the organisation remains banned in Crimea. We call on Russia to uphold this international ruling and to immediately end its persecution of the Crimean Tatar community, Ukrainians and all ethnic and religious communities in illegally annexed Crimea.

The UK condemns Russia’s ongoing militarisation of Crimea, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea. Since 2015, Russia has conscripted 28,000 residents of Crimea. They have stationed at least 32,500 military personnel in Crimea and deployed advanced weaponry and missile warning systems there. We are concerned by reports that there are currently 13 Kalibr missile capable vessels in service in the Black Sea Fleet, with a further 11 being built. Moreover, Belbek Airfield near Sevastopol has been lengthened, specifically for military use. Other military bases, radar stations and S-400 sites continue to be built.

Russia’s military exercises in the Black Sea are not only destabilising regional security but also have a significant economic impact. At times, these exercises have cut off over 25% of the Black Sea, disrupting the transit of shipping. In both the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Russia’s ships are intentionally obstructing traffic, and violating the right of passage. Moreover, the bridges built over the Kerch Strait limit the size of vessels able to transit and were constructed without Ukraine’s consent and in contravention of international law. These restrictions are part of a wider strategy to disrupt Ukraine’s economy and destabilise Ukraine."

The above article was published back in March 2021. So when you say you don't believe Russia would've invaded if Ukraine agreed to not join NATO. I don't know what to tell you other than you're an idiot.

-Edit

I also would like to add that at no stage have I said that peace wouldn't come through negotiation. Unfortunately, the only way you'll get any honest diplomacy from Putin is while your foot is on his neck.

Pure comedy gold, bravo.

They hyped it up because they knew they were going to invade, but it's like peeing in the wind talking to people like you who like a little bit of rape, murder, genocide and athnic cleansing with their breakfast.
I know it difficult to see the bigger picture of this war, but when people are brainwash on social media like twitter, You should watch "The Social Dilemma" On Netflix & "The Coming War on China" There is only one true Evil in this world and we all looking in wrong place.

It's happening on our continent so its a bit closer to home, but war is war right, however the reasons for these wars are all different.

Libya is not even comparable to Ukraine, and to summarize it with "obama bombed it" makes you look like you haven't a clue. It involved dozens of countries, including Qatar and UAE.

You wasn't far off the US made a coalition of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Norway, Qatar, Spain, UK and US to bomb Libya in 2011 there was no human rights. It seems that NATO didn't respect international law. What it stands for? You missed out the US puppet allies and China, if China enters Taiwan that's the next war for US wish list and it's world democracy program. But Taiwan is officially the Republic of China and if people sit down and learn the history of Taiwan it would open there eyes, but you can't teach right wing media they know what's best!

If you have time look at - The Coming War on China @Netfilx

Thanks will give them a watch.

Is anyone else fed up of newspapers telling everyone that Putin is at death's door because he shifted his weight when standing at a podium, wobbled his foot when in a chair, or looked a little tired?!

I suppose the fact there weren't mass graves, hundreds of thousands of children abducted and brought back to the USA or videos of coalition troops raping babies all happening in the first few months?

Not really, it's a propaganda tactic designed to weaken putin and embolden his enemies.
