I remain befuddled with the mysterious Pantsir being so elusive in what ought to be it's role. I guess Ukraine could be blanketing the area with drones or rockets to saturate their ability to defend targets, but I'm skeptical.

Does seem to be a surprising lack of stuff like Pantsirs, Buks, even Shilkas in an anti-air role on both sides. I know a few got blown up in the early stages on both sides but still. Almost the only ZSU-23s I've seen have been pairs DIY'd onto other vehicles used in ground attack roles... and this isn't even somewhere like Syria where that is more understandable.

EDIT: I did see a video of a convoy of Shilkas with some odd DIY armour attachments which would have prevented the guns being used for anything other than ground attack.

Update from Igor

Apparently Ukraine also attempted to drop artillery on the railway bridge that's slightly up river, no idea on damage

I assume Canvas means the bridge deck and support systems the columns under. So the bridge is indeed fubar as commented in the reply to Tim Clark.

Was it Russian built, it may literally contain canvas if so ;)

I actually take it as likely to be the rebar structure as thats in effect a canvas if you consider how words can be badly interpreted at times.
But could be anything we will see some photos eventually I assume

Or for a 3D mesh analysis if ever one was done, depends on the age of the structure, the deck would approximate to a 'fabric' of discrete elements attached to nodes. But we are disseminating. :D

Yeah

Off topic ish but what do you think of this as an ex engineer.
I used to travel through Eindhoven frequently and was all sorts of speculation as to what those round ball type things were?
Expansion of some kind?

Thankyou!
Sounds scary to me but then I know laymen like me see lots of concrete and think strong and thats not actually true

As above, but in this case there seems to have been a contributory factor that reinforcement in one axis was stronger that the other and that units were placed in the wrong orientation for strength. It may have been larger spans or something else. But I won't comment further as we are off topic. Thanks for the read though. :)

Poland continues to sign new deals to shore up its defence capabilities with modern systems.

This new deal is with with South Korea for the delivery of:

48 F/A 50PL jets
48 K9 self-propelled howitzers
600 K9PL self-propelled howitzers
180 K2 tanks
800 K2PL tanks

The previous big deal they made was with the US to build them 500 HIMARS launchers. They have also been ordering other U.S toys, including 250 M1 Abrahams tanks and F-35 jets

Are they planning one invading someone with all that?

Hate to think what the bill would be for that kit ha

Perhaps they’re worried that Poland might be next?
Poland also share a border with Russia.

While many people consider the existence of Kaliningrad Oblast as quaint/odd it is worth remembering that it's bigger than Northern Ireland, hell it's 3/4 the size of Wales, and I'm sure England would be beefing up their army right now if Putin owned Wales :P
