120mph on the M6, I’m presuming a ban? (Not for me!)

Yes but as I pointed out earlier, that isn't specific, the person simply ask if "the speed cameras" are active, they don't specify which.

Motorways have gantry cameras and the ones on the left side (HADES something), the ones in the left are always active, and I've seen people flashed by those loads, they are also more difficult to see.

The police then reply "the speed cameras are always active" which is technically correct but doesn't break it down as to which ones, nor would they have to they have answered the question correctly.

I've personally never seen anyone get caught going through gantry cameras when no variable speed limit is active and I've gon through them myself 90 odd mph.

Edit: Also where did that come from anyway?

Wouldn't be too hard to make that up, put a "fake" real name on it to make it seem more legit, post it around. There are plenty of do gooders who think they are being smart posting ******** around to get some sense of power thinking they are slowing people down, to make them think their own insignificant let me is more important than it is.
There are plenty of sources, loads. I just found one. Easy enough to check its authenticity too. Claiming fake when you see a different opinion or belief adds nothing to a debate unless you can evidence it.

To the original poster, for what it's worth - I was banned from driving while working for the NHS in a position where I used to drive for work (IT support a long time ago). They basically frowned upon it, but then I was moved to a large acute site to do support there for a while. If he's a good employee I guess they'd want to do the same and not fire him.

Claiming truth by reposting a poorly worded FOI request also adds nothing.

Had 125 (GPS) out my st MK3 and was still pulling (on my my mates private road of course )
Silly speed to be doin on anywhere but a track
Anyone caught over 100 deserves all they get , should be insta ban big fine and a retest imo
You ever driven something fast where u get to those speeds without even noticing ?

You never know, the UK legal system is soft.

I used to work with a guy who had 17 points on his licence ( all for speeding ) so the law says you get banned for that right ?

Wrong, his employer went to court with him claiming he would lose his job if he gets banned so he is still on the road.

I was in the works van with him driving sadly and the guy was still speeding and wheel spinning out of every junction.

He was clearly a danger to himself and others but is still driving around today like a nutter with 17 points.

No but I'm pretty sure I would notice I was goin silly speeds especially 120 down a motorway lol :D
My last few cars I've owned it's not hard to get to 100 (not a boast just a fact), possibly easily done by accident in an ev. My old 911 turbo did it in 4th gear and would (allegedly) go to 180. I think getting cars to have a higher top speed is far more difficult than increasing the acceleration, isn't it something like doubling the speed takes 4 times the power? Obviously 120 in something like a fiat 500 takes a lot of dedication (if even possible), you'd struggle to say I pressed the accelerator just a bit too hard :p .

The thing is, fast cars dont always feel like they are going fast (on the cruise) even when you are as they are so stable, as they are built to go fast.

Yeah.. And without Blues and two's

Their legal exemptions don't require the use of emergency equipment.
