BMW and M Power Owners

Some are stupid. Like couldn’t check seatbelt cause baby seat or covers blocking underbody. And it’s inconsistent as one year no advisories the next something for engine cover and the next year back to no advisory

I remembered to take the ISOFIX base out.

and a quite ridiculous 10.9% APR finance!

It was this finance rate that put me off buying an M3 a few years ago. I had my F31 as trade which they valued at £20K (pre covid) and I would use some cash and finance. The 10+% apr when new cars were 2% or whatever they were then - silly low anyway. Monthly payments were still similar to what my mate was paying for a new M2.

It annoys me because it says on the MOT that:

Repair as soon as possible:

  • Windscreen damaged but not adversely affecting driver's view (3.2 (a) (i))
The language suggests it's a major issue. It's not. Autoglass told me it's too small to repair and doesn't warrant replacing the whole screen. Yet if I sell the car privately in future I'd wager it's enough to put a buyer off if it's showing up every year on the MOT. It suggests negligence.

That won't be the reason it don't sell.

Edit: Also, the language used is appropriate. Chips cause cracks.

I find the 45e a very fast beast esp considering its 2.5 tonne weight. New 45e coming soon has an extra 100 bhp (so 500bhp) if anybody finds it "lacking".

Yeah, it doesn't help having to deal with salesmen and business managers who don't really understand finance and interest. One even started justifying such rates by quoting inflation as BoE interest rates.

Wanted to wait for the new 50e like you say, but probably won't be announced until Jan, launch in Spring then deliveries in summer or later.

You can get ok used car finance from some banks, for example one does up to 60k for 6.9%. Or you can just have a higher deposit and supplement it with a 25k loan at say 3.9%. Depends on everyone's situation really.

Yeah, in sport mode and full attack. It felt slower than the 40d MHT as it didn't have that torque grunt. I expected more from the electric motor and the engagement of the ICE and jumping between electric/hybrid did seem slow and not as seemless as it should have been.

Sound was crap compared to the 40d, even if the 40d had some ASD trickery. But the 40d sounds great from outside with the "sports" exhaust.

Damn I miss the 40d, should never have sold it :p

What I did with my M3 was use a combination of a £20k credit card 0% bank transfer and a top up Tesco loan to meet what deposit I had. That way I'm also not tied into a PCP and the numbers weren't as widely different as you'd expect, probably due to the low percentage on the loan and 0% on the CC. I do have to deal with the 0% expiring sometime next year but if I haven't paid it off I'm pretty confident I'll be able to shift what's left to another card, or, as I've since paid off the Tesco loan, get another.

Just looking at the BMW configurator. Runflats are now a £0 option on the 3 and 5 Series.

I wasn't aware they'd scrapped them as standard...

Would I be crazy to not take up an offer of an 06 Imola Red E46 330ci manual that's immaculate bar a small bubbling rust patch underneath the boot but know a place that's done decent work for me recently, 70k miles, another set of MV2 in good condition, preventative maintenance done for £4500? The old chap I've known for a while has owned this car for 8 years and its been owned previously by another member of his family, its maintained by a BMW specialist which for every small/big thing that needed doing, it got done no questions asked.

Normally I would snap that right up as I've always would have liked an E46 330, but with the current climate and the future of the combustion engine, I'm thinking if its worth it.

I won't be smashing big miles onto it as I mostly work from home these days

Hopefully there's no catch, The chaps an old fellow who's had it pretty rough the last 2 years, he struggles to get into the car, even struggled just to lift the bonnet, Hopefully i'll be taking it out for a run today, but I think i'm going to go for it, been hankering for something with 6+ cylinders and I think this will be my last chance to enjoy such luxury.
