Doubtful.

Putin is struggling with the current special operation and is trying to appease the hardline nationalist elements with this mobilisation he likely didn't initially want to carry out, note in his speech he's framed it as "agreeing" with the defence dept of the need for it.

Russian troops are demoralised at the moment and have been fighting for months, realistically this mobilisation likely just allows for them to relieve units at the front and attempt to hold the areas they've taken over winter.

The other impact of it that I think a lot of commentators have perhaps missed is that it gives Putin some troops to put down potential unrest, attempts at a civil war/Balkanisation. He's tried the mobilisation but if Russia suffers further significant losses (quite plausible) he'll start making scapegoats out of people in the military. A big defeat could lead to internal power struggles, some regional politicians seeking to break away from Russia etc.. and currently they don't have the manpower to deal with it - with mobilisation they perhaps do if/when Chechnya or some republics in Siberia decide to get ideas re: independence.
He is struggling with the power and his war. Some of the hardliners have been asking of mobilisation for months. What happened is that they are running out of meat.
They claimed to have less than 6000 dead, but need 300k. Are their maths not that great...

Sure it’s already been proven to be well over 50k dead when there compensation payouts for death in service was leaked

Why would they release the Azov heroes? Huge morale boost for Ukraine.
They swapped viktor medvedchuk. The litte midget in kremlin is the godfather of his daughter/son afaik. He has been given funds from kremlin to have his party in Ukraine for donkey years.
Also he tried to escape but was caught at the Moldova.

The paper leaked was more than 80k. But we do not know all the facts... The losses are significant though.

If the videos popping up all over Telegram, etc. are anything to go by the mobilisation is in full swing and well into the 1000s already.

The same like Donetsk?

Here is an actor congratulating his nation with mobilization(Alexey Panin). Previously he spoke out against the war. He lives in Spain though.
Here is a video of him which includes a section from a movie. He is being told to tell that he cannot hold the urine. Even his mother tells him to be a "man" and get ******. When he gets to see the army guy he tells him that he cannot hold the ****. The reply from the army guy is that he gonna **** himself when he sees what is going(assuming front line).

It's not wishing death & destruction on billions, it's accepting that is our fate, so may as well get it out of the way so we can restart
As long as there is no first nuclear war then there won't be a second. But as soon as we have one, rebuilding will simply be rebuilding towards a second, third, etc nuclear war.

We need to avoid one at all costs, not just for us now, but for future generations.

This next war will be fought with missiles and bombs. The one after with rocks and sticks

This isn't true, the alien protectorate that monitors us would come down to stop the war and finally reveal themselves to the world allowing us to join the alliance and become a Star Trek utopia

Looks like they're going to zerg

I think people are far too quick to dismiss what Putin is saying nuclear wise as a bluff/empty words - a lot of what has underpinned this war seems to be Putin finally losing patience with what he sees as the world not taking him seriously - a lot of his final meetings with Macron, etc. contrary to how many seem to see those personally I believe he entertained them to satisfy and reinforce his thinking that nothing was going to change how he wanted it to unless he took action himself.

Putin seems to be one of those people of the mentality of "if I can't have it neither can anyone else" - backed into a corner he'll likely be destructive.

Personally I find the whole situation puzzling though - Putin historically hasn't been one to extend himself in this way, it seems to be an uncharacteristic huge miscalculation he is now doubling down on (ultimately even the most careful can make mistakes but I find it odd).

I'd argue that he is capable of ordering it if backed with nothing left to lose, but are the higher ups in Russia willing to go down with the ship, and are the people who can enter the launch codes willing to damn themselves to the region of the construct known as hell reserved for the truly evil, assuming hell exists?

One hopes that at some point, common sense may prevail.

After their cake-walk into Crimea in 2014, I suspect that the strength of his army / weakness of Ukraine was massively overstated by his generals before the invasion this year. Russian politics dictates he either wins or gets overthrown - there is no middle ground for him.

Going by the way they are grabbing people of the streets it's seems they want as any as possible and obviously don't care for military experience.
Shame all those who's family is getting drafted don't stand up together.....

They really are meat for the grinder
