In trench warfare terms, yes, however hopefully Ukraine can continue to obliterate Russian positions from afar in all weathers.

Russia troops are going to be sitting ducks this winter, will they freeze to death first, get blown up or shot for deserting?

Off on a tangent...Napoleon wasn't particularly short. A bit under average for French men at that time, but not much. The reason why he's famously short is partly because French inches were longer than British inches and partly because of British propaganda.

Didnt Ukraine initially have the upper hand when they had a warm winter and the fields where mud? Remember Russians getting bogged down in mud, having to stick to open easily targeted roads etc.
 
I know one thing. I wouldn't want to be near any of the appointed Russian leaders for those regions. They are going to be big targets for assassination.

It certainly did help to reduce the movement of heavy vehicles at the time.
 
I would say winter would suit the Ukrainian army more than the Russians. Better intel from partners and the use of drones for precision strikes by long range rocket artillery. Along with better maintained kit be that vehicles or cold weather uniforms access to night vision equipment as well.

It's easier for the Russians they can dig in and wait out the winter months somewhat.

Totally senseless war :( Putin will go down in History as fool.
 
What they don't want to happen is getting bogged down in a stalemate for the whole winter.

If what's being said about the equipment the conscripts are getting is true then a lot will succumb to the cold leading to either deaths or surrendering.
 
Putin is looking more and more impotent as time goes on.

Russian conscripts will have the choice of either freezing to death or lighting a fire and getting sent to oblivion.

Hopefully many will defect - adding more pressure on the commie dictators regime.
