Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Nearly had a heart attack my unit price was showing 55.85kwh/24.40kwh , but forgot utilita dont have a standing charge and thats the cost for the first 2kwh a day after that it drops to 33.01/10.23..

Guys,

I had a letter from eon about rates going up to 45p a kWh for electricity during the day, but I've just logged into the app and it now says 62p a kWh - wtf?

Edit: letter

For anyone with octopus thinking the same (the app is showing 61p) see here.

The prices are displayed and it says the app/online figures haven't been updated yet. Don't worry basically.

(thorough analysis from 10 years ago but it shows ratio between household type)

That's quite interesting if I use the detached per square meter usage it comes out pretty much on my annual bill...

do need to look into the house baseline though! also going to trip all the breakers around the house and see if next doors lights go out:cry:

Thank god. Now lend a hand bringing my tumble dryer off the kerb and back into the house please?

EonNext website only allows meter readings and topups just now. Apparently it will return shortly with the new rates.

The agile EPG subsidy is regional based.

Mine happens to be 32p, so my new Agile post subsidy cap is 33.02p not 34p as the email stated, pretty nice and I get all the discounts from when wholesale prices drop as well. Today average rate is 18p across the whole day.

Thats a nice find, so they seem to think external walls have massive impact, there seems to be an assumption flats dont have many external walls, and an assumption that extra adults in a property is almost an extra 100% on energy costs, the latter seems extremely hard to believe.

adjacent to that link seems Octopus will commercialise a decent energy monitor ,
if this is free (you can get them from 3rd parties but $$) it'll be the incentive to swap to octopus and get a smart meter install

It's a bit like the In-Home Display (IHD) screens that come with most smart meters now – but lightyears ahead. Where IHDs only update every half an hour, the Octopus Home Mini takes a reading every few seconds, which opens up all sorts of possibilities.

What can I do with my Octopus Home Mini?

  • Easily spot energy-guzzling devices, and see exactly how much they are using
  • Find out how much your appliances use when they’re on standby

Sky interviewing the don't pay guy now.
He really needs media coaching or to employ a spokesman. The interviewer is really having to work hard to get any engagement out of him
