It's going to be a massive u-turn. The gamble now the damage has been done, is will rates fall. Can you imagine a u-turn and the rates stay the same

Interest rates?

I think it's fairly inevitable that interest rates will continue to rise. The problem was (and is) is that these idiots thought (and still think) that policies that will exacerbate that are perfectly okay, because actually, they don't give a **** about how that effects people and what they want to see is a dismantling of the welfare state, the NHS and tax cuts. High interest rates are, in that context, an opportunity, because borrowing becomes more expensive.

I mean why would it, it's not like he's personally responsible for inflation and even if there were some confidence in him or in a replacement or in a replacement PM or government things aren't looking too good in the short term regardless.

Him (and others in the current government) are not responsible for the upwards trend, but have basically chucked a load of petrol on the fire. So there is responsibility there.

I know I should be sad to hear that another black man has been the victim of a knife attack in the capital but in this case...

At least his successor has plenty of connections in the medical field who will gladly rush to his aid.

Of course not. But because I'm capable of having enough of a rounded world view to suggest that your knee jerk defence of Tory Sexual Predators is a bit weird, I must be one too?

You sound smart.

Where am I defending a sexual predator?? You just sound like you have an axe to grind having been treated differently in the past.

Given that your phrase of the (long) moment is "sexual predators", perhaps you should be made aware that the words require no capitalisation.

Martin Lewis for chancellor!

He'd be a nightmare. Throwing tantrums left right and centres, by most accounts he's not a nice person to work with. Plus he's been caught out for breaking rules by promoting his business (now belonging to Money Supermarket) in the past.

He cares, but he definitely comes across as having some kind of disorder.

Self centred behind a front for others or narcissistic?

I've said this umpteen times, but why the hell are senior government positions not awareded to those with a proven effective track record in what are highly specialised fields?
There aren't many Chris Witty folks knocking around. It isn't like you can hire a water chucker to run the fire brigade.

We don't pay enough, but typically the positions below Minister and who report to a Minister are occupied by those people, at least in theory.

1 year and 1 day was the shortest tenure of a PM in the modern era - Sir Alec Douglas Home, before being voted out (Bonar Law was shorter but he resigned due to ill health)
