So energy package now officially worse than Labour's and bills due to rise to over £4k in April, austerity 2.0 on the way, triple lock almost certainly not being upheld. Operation purposefully lose might be in action.

Or it could be that they're just that bad at governing....

I'll be honest, I'm incredibly sceptical that anyone has managed to spend £118k in the space of 3 weeks to implement something that hadn't even been voted through yet.....

The probably included cost of training/not working in that. Could have been doing upgrades anyway. Also the 'spend money to revert' doesn't imply spending another £118k

The Russ in Cheshire guy has become very popular, but I've seen a few people raise questions about his stories in the past... Slightly sceptical about anything he says tbh. Anyone wanting to do some light background reading on him might do worse than checking out his sex blog ;):p. For some reason don't think he's mentioned it much...

It's impressive that Liz Truss has managed to torpedo her own leadership so spectacularly in such a short space of time.

The scary thing is most of the noise around rising energy bills before the "2 year limit" dropped off when the plan was announced but since it was scrapped that noise is nowhere near as loud. It won't be long before the average bill is £4k per annum but the furore has largely died.. are the public accepting of it or in shock from the big U-Turn? Both?

Maybe the public have learned that all this free money (covid / EPG etc) is not actually free.. at last..

Pretty sure most of the public were already well aware of that.

However it does not explain why the Tories proceeded to then spaff billions up the wall on a useless track & trace, funnel billions to their mates / neighbours / donors via dodgy PPE contracts ?

But yeh, keep blaming the public for the actions of the government.

Kind of begs the question of why we've been giving so much of it to people who already have loads of it then really, doesn't it.

As if forcing your central bank to embark on a £895bn trickle down economic experiment wasn't bad enough.

Truss favourability falls to -70

YouGov's latest survey makes for very uncomfortable reading for Liz Truss.
Analysts asked 1,724 adults in Great Britain over the weekend for their opinion, after she sacked Kwasi Kwarteng as chancellor and brought in Jeremy Hunt to shred the mini-budget.
Compared to the previous week, they found that just 10% of the British public have a good opinion of the prime minister - down five points from the week before.
Some 80% have a negative opinion of Ms Truss - with 62% viewing her very unfavourably.

This means Ms Truss's favorability is at -70, 14 points lower than last week.
The opinion among Conservative voters is also plummeting - with only 20% viewing Ms Truss favourably.
With 71% rating her badly, Ms Truss now has a favorability of -51, 26 points lower than last week.
In comparison, Boris Johnson has a net popularity of -36, and Rishi Sunak of -18.
Labour Sir Keir Starmer is on -5, while Labour themselves as a party rate at +1.

Track and trace was well intentioned but was never going to work in a western country so yes that turned out to be a waste in (captain) hindsight.

The £4bn in wasted PPE was peanuts in the grand scheme of things.

Both are completely overshadowed of course by the £70bn on furlough..

The real question this raises, in my mind is :-

After all the shambles and debacle we've witnessed, how the hell can 20% still view her favorably? I can only assume they are confused and thinking of someone else...

Giving what to whom?

Are you surprised by this? Did you think it would be higher?

You mean the furlough that wasn't planned, thought out or executed well at all?

The furlough that had it's debt written off by a former Tory chancellor as it was easier than actually dealing with the massive level of fraud associated with a lot of the money?

That Furlough ?
