Vax power blade 4 has developed a battery fault after just a year and a half. Usually I'd buy a battery. But tobe honest I've been disappointed by this vacuum throughout.

Main issue is the clogging.
It seems to clog with hair in various places. The neck of the carpet long head
The bin, it often needs emptying before full
The roller.

I don't want to pay Dyson prices

I was considering a shark along with the vax. I know they have good black Friday discounts.

We have a dog and my gf has long hair so anything that helps with this (short of giving her a skin head) would be great!

That's my old thread I forgot about! :D

Mixed reviews there if I remember. Tempted to try one of these random brands you get. They don't have the big brand name. But many have good reviews

i bought a dyson V8 and very happy with it. £229 on sale plus had cashback so worked out about 220 inc delivery

Before that had a V6 for about 5 / 6 years and never had a single fault with it.
I just sold it because the battery finally gave up and would only last a few minutes on a charge.

My sister has a V10 and that had a small fault but they fixed it under warranty.

I have a Shark and a Dyson. The Shark is miles better for carpets, but the Dyson is better for hard floors and is lighter.

Never tried a shark they do review really well though. I’ve come to a simple conclusion over the years if you want a vac with a wire buy Miele if you want one without buy the best Dyson you can afford. I still think wired with a bag does a better job and is easier to maintain than wireless bagless stuff.

The Shark is more cumbersome and heavy, the Dyson is easier to use. But then the Shark has swappable batteries and it came with two of them. The mrs uses the Shark more, I use the Dyson more. The original idea was that the Dyson would be mine and live in the garage but I prefer using it.

We have a shark, and performance wise it is much better than the Dyson it replaced. But yeh, a bit more cumbersome and no charging mount for the wall.

I have gone through a few Dyson and they are always good when new and lose suctions and battery life after 6 months despite their company slogan...

Using a shark IZ201UK bought when black Friday 2020 and still running strong. It is heavier than dyson but it can run 30 mins+

For hard floor I have a Deebot X1 which mops/vacuum daily

I have the v15 Dyson, I think its great, the carpet head is brilliant and despite the green "laser" on the hard floor tool looking like a gimmick thats also really good. Best of all, left in Auto power mode which does a surprising good job of ramping up and down depending on the surface and the amount of dust etc I can vacuum the whole house (1500sqft) on one charge (this is still the case after a year of ownership). I also like the fact that the filters and other moving parts are all very easy to remove and clean. As a point of reference, I used to own a v8 I think it was and thought that was dreadful. I will caveat all that however by saying I know the v15 is silly money really, a plug in vacuum would be just as good / better for half the money, but for me the convenience of the cordless was what I wanted and didn't want something that would be a compromise so treated myself.

Apparently shark are heavy? This is a no go. As my gf won't use it. And I'll be stuck with the job!

So it's dyson, or random brand or get a new battery for old one.

We have the Miele CX1.
It’s much better than the old Dyson stick type vacuum we had years ago.
I also prefer wired as I tend to vacuum the whole house in one go.
