Cheap broadband

Don't really know, never really looked recently, just assumed, Sky launched NowTV back in the day, started as Skys non subscription service, don't think that has changed, blimey even the box looks like re-badged version of Skys Q hardware, can't be a coincidence.

Now, states not available.

Although slightly biased I'm very happy with my Sky FTTC. Looking at my Router stats System Up time is 1245:45:07 or 1245hours. That's 51 days without interruption. And I think that might even have been my resetting the Router for some reason.

I'm lucky enough to be around 150 metres from my cabinet and have a sync speed of 79,987 Down and 20,000 up.

I have a friends and family offer for Sky FTTC for £23pm which I'm happy to pass on @koolpc if you're interested. Let me know by starting a conversation.

I am after cheap, reliable broadband.

I dont game online etc.

Speed is not that important. Reliability and cost is. Cheaper the better but must be reliable with good tech support etc.

Any recommendations?

Around the £20 a month mark would suit me...

Yes, i have looked around but wanted some feedback from all you good folks!

Ta
Trooli if available are doing full fibre 300meg x 100 meg for £25 a month with first month free.

I wouldn't be touching Zen right now.
Whats up with Zen?
I use Freeola (they were the only mob I could get on rolling monthly FTTC) and they resell Zen. It's been fine far as I can tell for the 40/10 package I have for the moment.

Although as soon as the local FTTP mob get their proverbial together the better...

Have a look on think broadband forums. They’re migrating everyone over to their own inadequate backhaul, which is giving worse performance and latency than BTW. Then essentially not caring when people complain.

I know quite a few people with Sky and no issues...lots of family have Sky too.
It’s not about when it works - it’s about the support. I gave no doubt that Openreach Sky is every bit the same as other Openreach ISPs and this thread is about good performance, reliability and good tech support. Phone up Sky and tell them you want to run your own x86 appliance running Untangle and they’ll tell you to ask Arista or check the Untangle forums.

Brilliant. Fortunately it's a rolling contract, that hopefully I only need for another month or so.

What about 'shell' broadband?

Currys are offering £23 a month contract with £100 cash back with 'Shell' as i spent nearly £1k there today....

You could try YouFibre. 50mb for £20 p/m. No idea what they're like but they've started putting their infrastructure in where I live.

The most common ISPs (virgin, sky, vodafone, bt etc) will all have mixed reviews when they don't just specialise in broadband.

I was with Sky once, speeds were all over the place. Switched to Aquiss which meant I could use my own router, Sky were hacked I believe. They have first three months for a fiver I think if that helps. Is coop any good or john lewis or anything like that?
