Suggest a way to avoid paying for the Birmingham Clean Air Zone

On a related note, I just had my appeal accepted for 10 clean air zone offences in Birmingham :) Woooo!

The grand voyager I bought was registered as disabled tax class and was exempt from the charges. When I bought the car, the dealership paid the years tax for me and thus kept it as disabled tax status, so when i checked before my firest trip into town it showed exempt. Now, since going through this divorce I've moved to a new location to be close to my kids, meaning I didn't see the dvla letter changing my tax status so kept on using it (assuming it was still exempt) and also meant I didn't see the fines until I next went to collect my letters from my old house. 10 fines, I appealled with the council and they rejected it, so appealled with the authority and yesterday it was accepted and the fines all dismissed :) buzzin

Time to update my logbook addresses!

A 500 quid snotter will do. It's only diesels that generally don't comply with the zone, even a 2005 year petrol will likely comply.
Yep, I rock my '05 plate R53 through the city now if needed. Actually great for city driving and can park it in any little space, cute little thing :D

Aren't you quite lucky there? I would've thought that using the fact that you hadn't I updated your address as the reason to appeal a fine was a sure fire way of ending up being fined for having not updated your address!

It all depends on how you write your appeal and submit your evidence :D

you're going to have to get up early on christmas morning

where are the cameras ? can you plot a route into city centre avoiding them - F&F style

I may actually be in Birmingham around that time if you send me pics of partner. P.s. is partner code for boyfriend?

The car version of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Indeed, I don't understand it, high street shops are struggling as it is, so reducing their footfall by encouraging potential customers to go elsewhere is very silly!

It isn't, but I can ask her to pop into Ann Summers and pick up a large "implement" if you want? :p

I seem to remember in the early days of the London congestion charge they admitted that anyone using an amphibious vehicle would only be charged if they entered via road. Maybe another avenue to look at.

So... I float the car down the canal on the inflatable boat? I love it when a plan comes together!
