NVIDIA Plans GeForce RTX 4060 Launch for Summer 2023, Performance Rivaling RTX 3070

NVIDIA is reportedly planning to ramp its GeForce "Ada" generation into the high-volume performance segment by Summer 2023, with the introduction of the GeForce RTX 4060. The card is expected to launch somewhere around June, 2023. The card will be based on the 4 nm "AD106" silicon, the 4th chip based on the "Ada Lovelace" graphics architecture. Wolstame. a reliable source with NVIDIA leaks as Lenovo's Legion gaming desktop product manager, predicts that the RTX 4060 performance could end up matching that of the current RTX 3070 at a lower price-point.

This should make it a reasonably fast graphics card for 1440p AAA gaming with high-ultra settings, and ray tracing thrown in. What's interesting is if NVIDIA is expected to extend the DLSS 3 frame-generation feature to even this segment of graphics cards, which means a near-100% frame rate uplift can be had. Other predictions include a board power expected to be in the range of 150-180 W, and a 10% generational price-increase, which would mean that the RTX 4060 would have a launch-price similar to that of the RTX 3060 Ti (USD $399).

Feels not much of a value upgrade, especially if it uses more power.
The TDP of the 3070 was 220w so there's a small improvement there. Yeah - this is *weak* - I'd have expected at least 3070 Ti performance (and I bet Jensen sticks 8GB on it too - just to spite us :D ).

Isn't the "60" card for the peasants? And they still want £400?

Go back a few years £440 got me my gtx8800. £340 got me 4870x2. Good days
Well, the 3060 was supposed to be a $330 card. The 3070/4060 is 47% faster with a $70 price hike (and whatever the AIBs throw on top). Realistically, it's going to be 3070 performance at 3070 pricing. Bargain!

I believe the launch date is actually April 1st. Right where this card belongs because it is a joke.

No FE 4060 so in reality $450 or $500 for a decent one, but you might get one or two junk cooler level ones for $400, like this....

I just realised..... Nvidia did it again, you have to look closer to realise that is not an RTX 3060, its 8GB, 128Bit bus as opposed to 192Bit 12GB for the 3060 proper.... its an RTX 3050Ti.

They just keep doing this, over and over and over again... absolutely no shame.

Peasant market didn't exist through the crypto-boom, probably not since 2017 really. Recently we just got rejects/misfits like the RX 6400/6500 and 1630. ASRock RX 6600 was recently at £230 and that's faster than a 3050, somewhat comparable in raster to a 3060, but apart from some early specials with OCUK, I haven't seen a 3060 sub-£300. If AMD can keep that up, then there's hope the market might reset (can't see it myself though).

ayyylmao, so pleased I picked up a used 3090 instead of waiting.

£500 for a 4060 is a joke and that will be the price for most models over here.

ahh is that a solid block heatsink i see under there? those always work well

Its not an RTX 3060, they call it an RTX 3060 but it has a cut down bus and less memory, its an RTX 3050Ti, its yet another one of those Nvidia GPU lies.

As @JonnyG1982 said - 'peasants' is how they think of buyers in this end of the market. I'm not looking to buy anything from the 40-series but I was hoping to see a decent 4060 Ti at an affordable price with 3080-ish performance - I simply can't see nvidia selling something like that for below 3080 pricing.
