Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Shocking to think that without the EPG the price cap from Jan would be £4279! It's going to be absolute carnage if prices are still so high when the government start withdrawing support. :(

Aren’t the just setting it higher for April? With other targeted support for those that actually need it?

cornwall had thought 4350 April, now revised down at 3921, bank of england estimates based on about ~3.1K with half of the gap between 2.5K and 3.9K supported, so

Yeah haven't got mine yet but I am also expecting nothing from the session again and I am fine with that. With my refund coming in and that I will not be paying anything this month or next I believe and then Feb/March like £12 after the £66 credit. Then it will jump to about £95 come April.

Still no go on saving sessions "we crunching the numbers".
I cant participate.

Have gen1 smart meters which don't work. British Gas sent an engineer out, reactivated but still didn't work. Complained to BG several times now, that Im unable to participate in the peak demand scheme, they say its a trial with selected customers only.

Will keep complaining, its not good enough. Got to make a nuisance of myself with them, it won't change anything though.

I'm over £700 in credit with BG, will be calling them up and closing the account when I get back.

What are those on here that arent on a tariff doing, there seems to be a bit of fluctuation at the mo not sure a fixed rate is a good idea.

So OFGEM have backed out on forcing energy companies to ring fence customer credit balances.

BBC News - Energy sector reforms criticised by British Gas owner

They just a cuddly puppy for the suppliers to cuddle, what nonsense, our SC's are about to go up as well again because of the Bulb farce.

Why on earth would they back out other than they have discovered that credit balances are been used for cashflow. Interestingly Centrica criticised it (rightly) whilst Octopus supported the backing down. So Octopus, what are you doing with credit balances.

The BBC headline is misleading it gives the impression Centrica were the ones that criticised the original decision.

these heated throws are brilliant (posted in purchased thread) 14 in the room and i am too hot under it, i have a programable dehumidifier keeping the house dry while i am being frugal
my payment on its way, Scottish power so straight to bank account not energy account (or maybe most do this)

hmmmm I expect the world's smallest violin for this but has anyone noticed their octopus go faster contract has changed over the last few days?
I was at 8:30-1:30am on the cheap rate which means I can get a lot done at 8:30 but at some point in last week it went to 9:30 - 2:30.
I didn't think octopus could change the contract mid term like that (contract runs out 23/4/2023)

Daylight savings?

Anyone else wondering whether we’ll have blackouts on Christmas Day? It sounded like we came close a few days ago, surely everyone cooking, heating and with TVs on will put huge strain on an already strained system.

Domestic is small beans compared to industrial
IIRC Octopus have given a credit during xmas day as they grid usage is low!

Octopus didn't supper the backing down. There was nothing prior to this discussion and it is similar to banks.

I don't necessarily agree with Octopus but they are hardly pushing hard to keep monies. It took me 1 email to get my £398 back and say I'm happy have no credit saved and want to go variable and they just went yeah if that is what you feel works best for you no problem.
