Extension neighbour nightmare

Your previous posts suggest you bought this house 'early this year' and set to work on it.

She's probably just getting fed up as it sounds like the house has probably been generating building related nuisance for 8 or 9 months now?

It really starts to become tedious when your next door neighbour seems to have become a never ending building site.

Well I can’t help that I’ve spent around 80k on it trying to push it forward told here it would be all wind and water tight before Christmas with all scaffolding down. They were 3 extensions on it, with the amount of work been done I don’t think I’ve done bad also waiting for planning permission in that time scale.

Whether you feel you're making good progress on the massive amount of work you've elected to do is neither here nor there for people who had no real choice whether they wanted to end up living next to a building site for months on end.

Well she basically hasn’t got any choice I keep it tidy and secure I do my best, basically the quicker I finish it the better it his for both of us, instead of running down to council with petty complaints.

You say it yourself, you've left her no choice.

Well how quick would you have done it like ?
What's that got to do with anything?

You chose to start loads of work that's taking you months on end to do, you're the one generating nuisance for your neighbours because of it.

Instead of crying on the internet about the old lady who's started taking you task on your nuisance, maybe spend the time figuring out how to get your project finished sooner rather than later.

To be fair to the lady, builders aren't generally supposed to start until 8 a.m.

So if your man started at 7 a.m. one day to suit himself, that would be somewhat annoying

It happened to us when our neighbour did their extension and I just let it go because it was a one off and I tend to be up early anyway.

Is the house detached? Semi? Quite a lot of noise can travel through a semi-detached wall.
1 day isn't a big deal. Though I would have forewarned the neighbour first. It's a daft rule but I guess rules are needed... Some sites do have concessions to start earlier but I doubt this was it. Plastering isn't that noisy unless of course there's hammering and so on going on.

I mean if planning was approved generally it means there were no objections. Seems to me like she's complaining for the sake of it. Once all the work is done I'm sure things will go back to normal.

Just remain polite and grin and bear it. And enjoy your lovely home. Did you do a project in home and garden forum? It would be awesome to see!

Touched a nerve? :p

She's an old woman and you're basically ruining her quality of life until the work's finished.

That's life. He can't help that. He has every right to do the work on his house. He seems to have been polite to the neighbours about it. People will moan because that's what they do. When our neighbours had their work done it was inconvenient but that's all it was for a month or two. Admittedly were all detached with a good 20m or so between us.

There's more to life than your own world other people have their worlds to look after. Generally if you have a good relationship you just take it on the chin.

This is one of the most contradictory posts I've ever read.

He can help it. He is literally the only person that can as he's fully in control.

A bit different when 'a month or two' is more like 'a year or two' and rather than being 20m away, they've taken down your garden fence to be able to fit their scaffolding that they'll try to sort by Christmas and sort the fence out after that.

It's a massive nuisance and gets incredibly tedious when these sort of 'have a go' developers start monster projects they don't know how to manage to a timely conclusion.

How? He's done planning. It's been approved. What is he going to do? Cancel the work on his house? He's spent time talking to his neighbours, the works will have been advised on the planning. He's advised his neighbours about the situation. He's mitigated the issue after the complaint has been raised, albeit the water issue was going to be an issue regardless, the neighbour seems impatient.

1 day the plasterer started early. If this thread said complaint about 1 day early construction work. And that was it, it would be a different conversation. This has been months of work. Just sounds as though the neighbour is fed up, which is understandable but it's also tough ****.
