Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

so they cancel session because of a feared shortage on interconnectors, is that down to administration effort that might be diverted from dealing with a real problem, concerns of erratic consumer behaviour during a session ...
seems odd.

I cant participate.

Have gen1 smart meters which don't work. British Gas sent an engineer out, reactivated but still didn't work. Complained to BG several times now, that Im unable to participate in the peak demand scheme, they say its a trial with selected customers only.

Will keep complaining, its not good enough. Got to make a nuisance of myself with them, it won't change anything though.

My gen1 worked with Eon.

He means his Gen 1 smart meter doesn't work full stop (as a smart meter).

I had this problem with anyone who wasn't EDF but Octopus got me working OK.
Hi.

I came to this thread as I have a gen 1 smart meters.

I wanted octopus energy to change it but they said that they can only change it if it breaks down..

They said that the government fines them if they change it..

This is what EDF told me as well.

Octopus got my Gen 1 smart meters working with them though.

They send 30min readings which is good enough for my solar and these sessions.

They do indeed get fined for changing smart meters that are working just fine.

Just Google smets1 to smets2 swap I think all the main suppliers tow the same line.

Just get it working on your smets1 version it's definitely possible, as I'm currently doing it.
I dont have a supplied external display for it.

Apparently there should be one and you should not have to rely upon looking at the tiny display on the actual smar reader

Correct but you don't need it, the readings go to Octopus and you can see them on the site with a delay of about a day.

I can see my values for yesterday with 30 minute breakdowns and stuff, even without the IHD.

The IHD will only help you see what is being used in real time if you need to, the values get automatically shipped off still without it.

Getting my Octopus smart meter fitted tomorrow, attempt no.2.

First time the meter chappy said there was something up with the National Grid owned part of the electrics.

NG guy came around and verified all was OK, asked if the meter guy arrived in the afternoon, said yes, and he laughed,

Apparently a lot of them will say there's a fault and get off home early.

Boo next savings cancelled :(

Octopus couldnt calculate the previous ones before the new session so not the capacity to do it every week?

I have the savings now.

58% saved which is monetary value of 37 pence.

I didnt do anything special, just opted in, so I guess I gained a free unit and a bit for it. Potential of a 2-3 free units if they actually start doing multi hour sessions.

Agile for the first time in a while is pegged at cap all day today (33.02p), so cheap electric period over for now I think, but might come back if gets more windy again?

Do you know when this has been the case since? I joined Octopus in August, and they were more than happy to schedule in a SMETS1 to SMETS2 swap so I could join GO. The original meters wouldn't submit automatically to Octopus after I switched the house from BG to them.

Sweden electric prices gone nuts...
Nuclear reactors offline and low wind production+fake market mechanics = 40p kWh
Urgh
