NVIDIA 4000 Series

@Jay-G25 or anyone, can you recommend a not-too-ambitious undervolt I can try on the FE when it arrives? Aiming to run it 300-320Wish max. Cheers.
Think you arrived at the wrong forum mate , the sign on the door says OVERCLOCKERS ... i will happily help you do that when needed:D but that UV word needs to be ban on here:cry:

In all seriousness though i find leaving it stock makes it very efficient and will only use what it needs ie MW2 in MP will use like 250w to 350w at 4K 120fps ... I am sure other indulge in that sacrilege act of undervolting and can help you further though ;)

Ok no problem will find a setting am sure, been ages since I tried last.

Just set the power limit in MSI AB to 67 and if the default BIOS is 450W that'll cap power at 301W. Reducing voltage will just reduce performance (as well as power) so using the power limit with stock voltage works best.
tbf when i undervolt my 3080 i found the highest stable clock at the lowest power point so you dont lose much in the way of performance, setting a custom curve would also help :)

He can obviously return the 4080 but I think the point is that won't then let him buy a 4090, even if they're still in stock, as the system will register he's already purchased a 40-series card.
hense intice someone to buy his 4080fe for a £50 discount and get them to buy the 4090fe for him..still cheaper than going aib route..he gets his 4090fe for £50 more than list(which is what is what it was before they dropped price) and someone gets the 4080fe for £1150, which is £100 below what it got released for initially..everyone happy..to a degree....can't see that many people wanting to buy a 4090fe and giving it up, unless he's got a mate that has no interest in pc's and he can get him to buy ity for him

Sorry i cant offer much help for undervolting , as mentioned i find it is very efficient as stock and only uses what it needs for the desired fps ... it is nothing like the 3090 was which was pretty inefficient.

Video on undervolt on why not to do it on the 40 series :)

Old vid when it was first out, lots more info since. Sorry I asked the wrong person, thought you'd be a little more clued up ;)

(I know @LtMatt is a real donk so didn't expect him to be ;))

Basically undervolting gives you slightly higher clocks at the same or very close power usage over just dropping the PL.

Yeah sorry the sliders on mine only go one way which is up from 0 ... anything lower than that i get a bit confused :p

You leave @LtMatt alone , we are in his debt

Will be interesting to see what you can get out of it then , tbh ive not looked in to it much since watching that video on release and a few other saying it is not worth it this gen but if things have changed i am all ears :D

Interesting read here on PL dropping , not what you are after but still sort of relevant :)

You can now LEASE one of these.... lol.
