I was just looking over some new computer systems. But these days there are so many graphics cards on the market that its difficult to know what the middle of the pack one is.

The newer ones are very costly. I don't need a new one. I don't play games that require the high end features.

I'm looking at Nvidia more. But it would be interesting to see what AMD are offering too.

So what would you say is the middle of the pack one at the moment?

What resolution are you going to be gaming at?

Steam hardware survey says Nvidia 1060 6gig but I think you mean what’s the best bang for the buck.

6600XT/6650XT are probably what you’re after.

I'd be buying a 6700xt, £400 quid, 11% on average slower than a 3070 but a whole chunk cheaper.

Then again, I recently sold my 3070FE in the MM for £320. The secondhand market is good to pick up the 30 series atm, some good cards around.

Which 6650XT though? Is the 4Gb version sufficient for 1080/1440p? Over here (Sweden) you cant really find 6600XTs and the 8Gb 6650XT is the same price as a 12Gb 3060.

Secondhand shopping makes the most sense right now for performance per $, for new then AMD offers much better value in the 200-400 price segment.

Might be worth checking ocuk clearance section for deals and you can make them an offer also.

Im surprised at the amount of people recommending the used market, gpus have highest failure rate of any component = you want a warranty.

Never had a gpu/graphics card die in over 30+ years new or second hand or B grade cards. Had a fan fail on one card I remember and was easy enough to replace and buy a new one so normal wear and tear that got the fan in the end.

OP specified that he would also look on the second hand market and a good brand with a good warranty is absolutely fine.
