MOT - This is ridiculous

First pic is a fail for sure, the 2nd looks like the cords are starting to come through (but if not visible, then a pass and advise).
If you do decide to report the garage, then you cannot replace the tyre's as the inspector will want to see the car as it was presented to the tester.
And as much as any of us testers don't like to be reported, that guy deserves a shed load of points on his license or better still a 28 day ban.

out of interest how is "cracking or perishing" coming under an advisory. I have no idea how the report system works are they drop downs or free text ?
It's a proper advisory and has been for a while.

The tyre condition page we use..

I mean mine couldn’t have been far off that considering it wasn’t long after it split around about 1/3 of the canvas. Their ‘advisory’ was actually pretty unhelpful, especially how trivial those things usually are.

I mean this was only a few hundred miles later and a pothole that may or may not have made it worse.

I always figured they were stricter.

I did the MOT with my local Kwik Fit centre and seemed fairly thorough to be fair. My local independent was booked for weeks and needed it done. Next day and gave me access with an examination lamp (at my request) which was decent of them.

As always it comes down to the people but those tyres look like a “set of dry’s” to me

the obligatory "i bet you're fun at parties" post...
one of those things everyone should know surely? It’s part of driving test.. part of driving lessons. So what happened, why did she forget it? I’m not a party pooper but tyres getting to that state means she was driving on illegal/bald tyre for a long time. Screen wash is one thing bald tyre going pop on the motorway etc is way worse.

I'm sure some people think cars are sealed for life units. Just put fuel in and go.

Summer circa 1980, my garage in south Manchester. A woman in a low cut top is bending down pointing to her tyres and asking me "Can you have a close look at them"? Sweating I said "I am looking closely" She laughed and stood upright. Different, easier going times I'm glad to have had fun in.
