Graphics card Query

I have been looking to upgrade my pc a bit as at the moment i am using the integrated graphic of my proccessor and this is become a slight draw as i would like to not only attempt to use and program compute shaders but it is also quite limiting for the games that i can play so i have been looking into getting a gpu however i would like some advice so that i can get the right graphics card for my pc and my price range of around £400 - £500 however am thinking about maybe up to £600

CPU; intel i5-4460 quad core 3.20GHz
RAM; 16GB DDR3
Graphics; intel HD Graphics 4600
power supply; fujitsu 250w
motherboard; fujitsu D3230-A13 GS 4

If you get a new power supply, that would greatly help. A good 750 watt PSU would be needed.

Also, you are running a very old system, so modern GPU would be limited by the 4460.

I would instead invest the money in a new CPU, motherboard, RAM, and PSU.

I have no knowledge of that motherboard, but I am unsure if it even have PCI express or capability to run a modern GPU...

Can you elaborate a bit on what exactly you need?

From the power supply and motherboard, it sounds like this is a proprietary PC so I'm not sure you can upgrade the PSU, that's going to limit your options. Something like a low profile GTX 1050 or GTX 1650 might be the best option (if you have a compact case, but I don't know if it is).

Oh I didn't realise that a full rebuild would have been an option with the limited budget thank you that definitely would be something that I would look into then

Yea from reading some of the other post it seems that a rebuild would be more beneficial so I'm now thinking of taking that route but I belive by mother board had a pcie slot when I had a look but I think a rebuild would be better thank you

Yea I would advise a full rebuild, what you already have is very old and if you were to ask it to power even a basic GPU now it would be highly likely to turn itself into an IED with a PSU that weak.

You should check if you need CUDA, because that will mean you are best served by a Nvidia GPU.
