The 'choke' was the nonsense red, the second was fully deserved, as I said at the time!
Well it was only with various replays did we establish it wasnt quite a choke. Even so, you raise you hands like that then you cant be surprised to see a red come your way. If we were talking about a kid id get your argument but he isnt.

I don't disagree. But he's not played the same since. He's been utter pants the last few games, giving the ball away as much as Fred on a bad day.
Is that not also a reflection of how the team has preformed as a whole though. No one is ripping up trees at the minute.

Another woeful performance against West Ham - players looks like their coasting to the end of the season at the moment. Very disjointed, passing is poor, no urgency in the play/pass.

Could end up getting completely hammered by City in the final at this rate.

On a positive - I think ETH is seeing who's up for it and who's not - Lots of dead wood still in that squad that need cleared out.

Frustrated by the who Glaizer bidding process - get on with it.... I suspect they will say, thanks but no thanks, and carry on as if nothings happened.

After a brief interlude under ten Hag we have resumed the form that saw Solskjaer sacked and Rangnick humiliated. All of which leaves you to ponder where the malignancy is in the team. Ronaldo removed, Maguire benched but still really a lack of leadership from enough players. No doubt we are a better side with Martinez. He adds a lot to the team - remember the high fives, chest bumps and back slapping when we defended our goal. None of that in evidence now. Then there is the conundrum that is Fernandes. Our best player, the captain but the high risk player who cedes possession, invites pressure and is unbounded selfish in the final third.

I still think we have too many players that mentally aren't strong enough, hungry enough to warrant a place in what a successful United side will look like. Sancho, Martial, Fred can all leave along with Wan Bissaka, Williams, Maguire. I'd pay £60m for a player like Caicedo who could be the nucleus of a team for a decade. Add to that a relegated Ward Prowse or Teilemans, give Garnacho, Diallo, Pellestri a few more games and break the bank for a genuine number 9 - Kane would do albeit he's too old for the money but at least you know he has the attitude to win.

So much to do for ten Hag and thats without replacing the keeper.

just sloppy and de gea shouldn't get a new contract he makes me nervous the whole team is in bad form im actually glad we don't play midweek until the chelsea game we look awful and need a small break.

Wouldn't be sad to see the back of Sancho, and Martial who I thought showed signs he was going to be decent when he joined us, not sure ETH can get anymore out of him. Really need a clinical striker.

We need to get the take over sorted. If it drags into June or even worse July than our summer window will be rubbish.

For me at least the loss of both our first choice centre backs is obvious as we have fallen off a cliff since both have been out. We are playing a lot deeper as a result we are getting bossed in midfield.

A new CB and striker are a must with a keeper to challenge De Gea for the future. They also need to make a decision on Greenwood as well.

The takeover is overshadowing everything at the moment, as you'd expect to happen especially when the fanbase despise the current owners.

I'm not sure it's affected the performances of the team much, that's more down to inconsistent players and fixture congestion.

It's also the case that too many of the players blow hot and cold are and generally overrated -
  • De Gea has been a good servant but he doesn't cut it at the top level.

  • Maguire is an £80m problem and cannot perform at this level.

  • AWB is no good.

  • Luke Shaw gets a lot of random praise but IMO he's not good enough either (a bit like De Gea).

All players who have been around for a while now and just don't cut it.

And that's just the defence...

ETH has shown some flaws but also some positives. It's only right he gets another transfer window and next season. If we're in the same position as we are now, serious questions will be asked.

... but all of these plans may change if a sale goes through, everything is in limbo.

Crazy to say Luke Shaw isn't good enough. I think we've seen since losing him for left back how important he is there, and on top of that he's great cover at CB too.

He has good spells but I've never been that much of a fan. Maybe my dislike has been exaggerated by his stupid handball against Brighton...

Nah, Luke Shaw is top class when hes on form and hes had a great season. Hes one of the reasons we aren't in a complete mess right now (although perhaps we are). Without him standing in at CB we would have massive issues.

I think we are just lagging now. Casemiro has dipped in form a lot. Rashford isn't doing much and we are playing very deep because we are missing our first choice CBs and missing Luke Shaw at LB which makes that side a bit weaker in attack as well.

Really hoping we can limp over the line to 4th place but we really need to pick our game up. We've been unlucky/stupid/**** in far too many games lately and its cost us hugely. If we had won even one of them we would be in a very strong position for 4th.

Reckon we could get 40-50m for him perhaps. Hes still a very good player, hes just not in the right team so unless we become that team he will struggle.
From who? He'll be on £200k+ per week at Utd - who will want him that would be willing or able to get close to that sort of contract?

It's easy to say he's worth x or y but you have to ask who is going to buy him. He'd be great at a Spurs or Dortmund type club but they won't pay him anything like what Utd are paying him. I say it time and time again both re Utd and Liverpool but when they buy a player and it doesn't work out, it's incredibly difficult to move them on because the only clubs that will take their rejects, cannot afford to pay the wages they're on.

£40m is nothing in the current market so wages of £200k/week aren't exactly crazy high. Sancho in the right team is top class and hes only 23. I don't know who would buy him but I don't think that figure is at all unrealistic.

Yep,

He's on £18m a year, until 2027. That's £72m. There won't be another club willing to take him on a free at the moment, never mind pay another £40-£50m on top.

Yeah but it's what that 200k does to the rest of the squad when he turns out to be an average bench player.
