Thoughts on Excessive Speed

My band is now in jeopardy because the guy who drives most of the gear around in a trailer is already on 9 points and just got caught speeding again :(
This is 4 times on his meat delivering job he has been caught speeding but you would think on his first time he would have slowed down.
I do know people who have had 12 points and still kept their license for one more chance, what is the likelihood of that happening for 4 speeding tickets and if he gets a ban what ban could he get?

wow..... anyone can get caught the odd time, once... twice even...... but 4 times in what........ 4 years is it before they come off? that is some serious refusing to learn a lesson going on there!.

I think the starting point for a 12pt totting up ban is 6 months?

Hard to predict as once you're in front of a magistrate it's all dependent on how well you're able to put your case across.

3-6 months depending on the severity of the offence. And likely sacked from his job too if he gets a ban. Wouldn't be surprised if his work kept loading more and more deliveries and expectation on him and still expected him to Complete his round in the same time.

that is a fair point i didnt consider actually.

way back in the day (so perhaps things have changed) my dad used to drive a wagon mostly for a sand quarry i think it was and he claimed it was impossible to fullfil all his jobs in the time given without pushing it a bit.

they also overloaded his vehicle as well so much so his brakes failed multiple times coming down welsh hills. (or maybe he was just a rubbish driver - i didnt put that to him ;) )

i more worry about what is under the puddles such is the state of our roads.

Around here last couple of days it is more puddle than road... not as bad as 2013/14 but still.

I definitely use my brakes a lot less than most people and use the road to adjust my speed a fair bit - I often time it into a speed limit change just letting off the throttle and it catches people out behind me who more typically pass the limit change then hit the brakes.

Ah yes both very nice chaps aside from the lads dad murdered him.

Technically manslaughter* surely as there was no intent, but yes, still a valid point.

Wow! dodging puddles! :D It's funny when you see the folk in SUVs dodging small puddles....

Dodging puddles is cheaper than having to get your tracking done every couple of months :D

* Well... death by dangerous driving really, the question is why are they classed differently? Both are unintentionally killing someone due to being careless/an idiot.

His only excuse is that back in the 00s he had a stroke while riding his motorbike at 70mph and he does have memory issues so perhaps he sometimes forgets where he is.

He has an amazing job where he can choose what days to work.
He'll deliver meat to several shops and he's usually back home by 2pm so no need to speed at any time, it isn't like he's a parcel delivery driver.
He said this last one was unfair, something like he's in a 60mph zone but driving the type of vehicle he has he is only allowed to do 50mph which he genuinely didn't know, I said ignorance is no excuse.

I would suggest that neither of these things are a good idea to use as the basis of his defence :p

How long has he been driving for the meat company? I assume it’s a 7.5t he’s driving?

I was on the straight at 75mph with a rear blowout, tyre flail locked in the coil spring so it was like putting the handbrake on and i hit the hardshould barrier sideways.... broke my L2 verterbrae and was in hospital for 2 weeks, not sure why this wasnt a 'non event' with your expert view then.
I've had my handbrake yanked vertical by (another) ****** in the back seat because he thought it would be funny, back when I used to race round town like a bell end boy racer that I was, this was mid bend of a wide 90° corner, didn't crash and burn in a fireball that time either.
I guess I put too much trust in people to actually know what to do with the round thing in front of them.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say there to be honest. I can cover it by saying yes I know how to drive?

Ironic you let the round thing in front of you be hands off whilst you drink coffee…
