I have a ryzen 7600 and gaming x ax i just upgraded to and im using my 3070ti Fe i brought last year. I have a 165hz 2k display. Im using a lancool 215 case and have a 850w psu.

I want a gpu upgrade and to give the 3070ti to my son to use in my old 3700 system.

I have approx 1k for a gpu but want a good noticicable upgrade that will last a couple of years.

Ive recently brought some AAA for the first time in years so have spiderman, gods of war, howarts legacy to play.

The only cards really worth going to is a 7900 xt or above.

With 1k a 7900xtx is probably your best choice (though it's only like 10 - 15% faster than the XT for a decent amount more cash).

Or if you really stretch your budget more a 4080 if ray tracing floats your boat.

4070 is no good, only about 20% faster. If you want a decent boost go 4070Ti/7900XT or if you want to treat yourself then push budget slightly to a 4080(£1100) or a 7900XTX (Pulse version just hit £999 here at OcUK, v nice card).

edit, added a couple of links;

But a 4070ti(I think it’s this one) is the same sort of power

For around £1k or just above the 7900 XTX and RTX 4080 are the cards to consider, for former being bang on the money (Sapphire Pulse at the moment) and the latter £100 above. The former is generally slightly faster in rasterised games, the latter is the choice if raytracing performance is important, and has the better upscaling tech.

While FSR2 isn't as good it's often very usable, though my experience of it has been at 4K so I can't comment on it at 1440p - I've found my card has enough grunt at that res to not need it in the games I've played so far.

The only thing that is an upgrade from a 3070ti from Nvidia considering the budget and vram would be a 4080.

I wouldn't buy anything with less than 16Gb of vram right now.

AMD is an option but not well versed in the Red Team having never owned one since my 5870.

OcUK have a 4080 for just over £1k so that's what I would get.

Does your monitor support FreeSync, Gsync or both?

My monitor is a freesync but ive never had a issue once i switch it on with the gsync software.

You also have to remember that is second hand pricing not new at £650 and 3090s have actually gone up second hand now too since they dropped to £650. The best buy right now is the new 6950xt at £589.
For the price is good. But is it a big enough "upgrade" from what the op has?

The 6950xt is a shout especially at the price, but does the op want to lose DLSS and RT performance?

If hes got a grand to spend on a GPU I still think the 4080 is the card if he wants premium rather than budget.

I don't think they will lose RT performance against an RTX3070TI:

It's even quicker in Cyberpunk 2077! Considering how much the RTX3070TI sells for secondhand,it would be a relatively cheap upgrade.

But even then with global dGPU sales collapsing,it makes me wonder whether waiting longer might be a better option. The OP only bought the card last year.

AMD has not even launched its full range, and Nvidia might consider a Super range at some point.
