The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

I do chuckle about oil money comments, especially when very few people bat an eye lid about how our current government are funded. Suddenly when it comes to football everyone cares. Not pointing fingers at anyone in this thread.

Me personally, I don’t love or care what happens to our government, there’ll always be a bunch of crooks in charge of the country. But the football team I support and follow and have done for the 47 years I’ve been on this planet becoming a plaything for a dodgy state, no thanks.

The oil money thing is just a massive TLDR. It's everything that tends to go with being owned by a state whose fortunes come from oil.

While you can argue that everyone making billions from oil is involved in corruption and human rights issues, there are still levels to it.

We don't want oil money but... we have no real say in the matter either way.

I wanted oil money in the form of NBIM, but they don't really get involved with running things so it was always unlikely.

I don't see that much difference between INEOS and Qatari money. Both are about as grubby as you can get and when you are talking about shades of **** I don't think it matters all that much. The Glazers are a parasite and I will be very happy for them to be gone and this is unfortunately what it will take.

As much as people romanticise football its all about the money. Has been for years.

This is whataboutism. We're not being bought or currently owned by the British government.

top four secured chance of finishing 3rd and some confidence going into the final with a rest too. not sure it will be enough but hope we can give city a game a final you never know. hopefully now the sell of the club moves forward too some interesting times ahead lets see what happens.

I think the final will be a decent game. We have the Casemiro, Eriksen, Fernandes trimvirate fit and playing well again. Varane and Lindelof at CB looking pretty solid.

It's the sort of game where people like Garnacho can come on and make the difference in a tight match.

Haven't heard about Antony's injury yet? Unlikely ETH will throw Pellistri into starting a big game like that, so probably Rashford on that side?

Looks like Antony may be out for two months. Recurring ankle injury from his time at Ajax. Shame, he’s going to be missing for the final and for a large part of preseason. I think he’d have really benefited from it. :(

If we play Casemiro and Eriksen in the final we will lose. That midfield is far too porous against a team as good as City. they gave Chelsea far too many chances last night and they looked better chances than United created. It's only the fact that Chelsea are so awful in front of goal that saved us conceding 3 or 4. Personally I'd play Fred and tell him to follow KDB around the pitch and I generally can't stand Fred.
CB look decent enough but I'm still not convinced that Sancho is worthy of a starting place. It does look like Antony will be out so Final will likely be Rashford, Martial and Sancho.

Ideally I'd like to think in a one off game we have a chance but I still consider there is mental weakness in this team and the don't respond to adversity consistently well. City are 15/8 on to win and that feels about right.

Top 4 and a trophy is overachievement in some sense but I still think we are well short of being a genuinely decent team

This guy is different gravy and to think all the pundits wanted Poch!

IF we win the FA cup next weekend he has to be manager of the season really. Especially considering the amount of games we have played this season.

Harry looking like he didn't want to be there.

He shouldn't. He doesn't belong and needs to be a big boy and hand in a transfer request and leave. Needs to go somewhere like Brighton or Villa and be playing every week and go 10/15 games without gifting goals away.

Southgate is a fool having him in that England squad after his crap performances for United over the past few years.

United will happily sell him. He doesn’t need to hand in a transfer request and nor would I want him to. Despite his shortfalls he has always given his all and never caused problems. He has barely played this season and hasn’t complained.

He deserves to play somewhere he will play wee in week out. That place is just not United.

The Greeks say otherwise ;)

but I still consider there is mental weakness in this team
Oh big time, that’s why we’re prone to getting humped from time to time. It seems the one thing they learned to do collectively as a team under previous managers was down tools en masse. This, imo, is one of ETH’s biggest jobs - changing that ‘sod it, things aren’t going our way so let’s just all huff’ mentality. He’s made some positive strides in that department but there’s still that weakness in the core of the team that needs sorting, somehow.

But he kept Bruno on as captain and signed Antony who are quite possibly the worst at this.
