I used to fly out of the UK every week for three years, you get used to using Boots for everything if you aren't on expenses.

I was stuck in Singapore airport for 12hrs during covid, normally Changi airport is great but that period the free cinema was shut, the butterfly garden was closed, most of the shops were shut.

In the first 9hrs I bought just 1 iced coffee and waited until it was 3hrs before my flight before I haul myself into the lounge (free with credit card) where I eventually got some proper food and drink.

That’s how much I hate airport food prices.

I've tsorn homemade bacon and egg sandwiches through security and onto the plane before. As long as it's not a liquid or prohibited food stuff it should be fine.

Not unheard of for people to take takeaway pizza, KFC chicken buckets etc onto flights.

Can't say I've ever eaten on a short haul flight, is it that big a deal to just you know, not eat for a couple hours?

I used to see this regularly on internal US flights. People would come on with a huge Sbarro XL or a Popeyes family meal and devour the entire thing. I was only ever offered a share once. This really big guy say next to me offered me a slice of his pizza as compensation. Nice pizza, nice guy. Turned out to be a famous comedian!

. A guy at work has tried some of that fish, his response was pretty much the same. Can't understand how it's meant to be a delicacy.

It depends on the circumstances doesn't it?

For example if I were to fly from Stansted, it's 2.5 hours from my house, .5 hours to get parked and transferred to the airport, 2 hours at the airport, up to 4 or 5 hours on a short haul flight.... by that point I'm going to be hungry.

4 hour flight so just some snacks really for the kiddo, i can survive without food and water for 5-6 hours.

Don't do what I did, I took a few bananas onto a flight to New York arriving on 25 December 2019, when I got there, totally forgot I didn't eat/bin one on the plane. I go through customs and got detained for smuggling a banana into the USA.
U.S. Customs and Border protection kept me back 30+ minutes. One of the border force police questioned me, and said: "why did you bring a banana into the country, when in New York we have some of the best restaurants in the world!" I got let off anyway, probally because I declared it before passing through on the self service computer at JFK and thought ****! forgot about the banana! I thought I was gonna be in serious trouble, probally usually more stricter than the UK.

That's not air, it's nitrogen and the crisps might lose their fresh taste depending on how long the bag has been punctured. I've never had a bag burst on a flight, so this pinhole advice might be good intentioned but a little bit misplaced.

Also, big LOL's to the suggestions not to eat for ~6 hours to save on airport prices - the kids must have some fond holiday memories.

Get yourself to burger King in the airport and buy 4 XL double cheese with bacon just before you board the flight and make everyone smell the delight during the flight.

I've yet to find a KFC in an airport, its a dream of mine to get on board with a mega bucket and 4 sides of gravy and make everyone envious as they eat there airline grey food!
