Considering we have only sold 1 player for 8 quid and window shopping (no fault of EtH) and this stupid takeover farce, I am accepting this next season will be another, do what we can with what we have scenario. I was hoping for a couple of key signings, a new owner, dead wood cleared out, youngsters coming out on preseason (yet to be seen) but noooo, the Glazers dragging it out for that extra green.

I feel somewhat sorry for EtH. I hope the Glazers **** off asap and Eric gets all the support he can.

Yep, next season is potentially written off already (in terms of achieving more). Is it a rumour or do we only have £100m to spend this window? Sounds like a lot but top players aint cheep.

Just strange - I can understand the club want to "cut the budget" a little - but 12 years and 500+ appearances counts for something surely. Get a deal on the table - get it done. Don't want to be spending £40/50/60 million on a new keeper and letting him just walk on a free.

I think ETH has decided he's not good enough - there are better keepers out there.

Obviously it will be expensive to replace him but it's a critical position. Looks like we're trying to get Onana.

I like Onana looks decent but likely £50/60 million again.... Where does that leave United budgets trying to find a striker... 100% NEED a striker....

Kane deal looks less and less likely to happen.... Itching for United to go break the bank and sign Osimhen from Napoli but if they spend 40/50/60 on a keeper it's hard to see them going after a top class striker

No, they don't. Hes been alright for quite a while now whilst on a £375k/week salary. Thats over twice what pretty much every other keeper is on at other top clubs. Statistically he isn't even top 10 keepers in the league. Clean sheets is largely how good your defending is, not your keeper unless hes dropping clangers left right and centre.

By all accounts we have a deal on the table still, its just a deal that places him as a second choice keeper. I imagine something like £100k/week which is quire the drop in wages along with not being number one. We can't afford to put him on a decent contract and then be in the situation where we still have him in 2-3 years time after we have had to replace him next summer.

The goalkeeper is a vital part of how teams play now. Every top team has a keeper that can sweep and start attacks. They expect their keeper to be able to break the press with an accurate pass between the lines because its so important. Last season against better teams we struggled because we couldn't rely on DDG to command the area, pass around the back or do anything but lump the ball long when under pressure.

Kane deal won't happen and Osimhen will be well over £100m if anyone wants him. I doubt we are getting him either way. We need a striker but we also really need a better keeper. People underestimate how big a difference a good keeper would have on the side. We would genuinely play considerably higher up the pitch which would make a striker less of an emergency.

Story is that DD was offered a contract but it was withdrawn / vetoed by the manager. Possibly after the Cup Final and Semi of the UEFA league!
Dave's been great and deserves respect but he's not the future and and at some point the club has to move on.
Saw a decent video on why Mount has been signed and it made a lot of sense. I'm more convinced than I was but still feel exposed with only Casemiro as a genuine CDM.

I don't think hes that highly rated in Spain and they haven't got anything like the money the PL has. He would have to go to a second tier club in La Liga.

I would guess PL or SA if they want him. I hope he finds a good club. I really like the bloke and he has been great for us at times. Its just time he moved on.

Anything happened with Greenwood yet or are they just hoping no one will notice when they slip him into the team next season ?

That DDG gone. I don't know if that means Onana is wrapped up. Probably not. Fingers crossed Inter won't suddenly think this makes us more desperate.

It was the right time for him to move on. Fantastic keeper in general for us over the years. The game just moved on and left him behind and his salary was frankly obscene.

Good look David, always a big fan but all good things must come to an end.

Sad day, a definite legend for us. Feels a bit sour how it's ended, he deserved a proper send off and he better get a testimonial. Hope he chooses to take a lower wage and go back to Spain rather than go to Saudi Arabia.

It wasn't that bad he finished his last season with a trophy and he has a premier League winners medal too.

End of an era though. He was the last of Fergie's players.
