Google Pixel 7/7 Pro & Pixel Watch

@MrRockliffe I've found the same when switching between iPhone and Pixel phones; there's things I like/dislike on each.

There are a few reason that keep me on my Pixel 5.
  • Apple don't offer a light/small iPhone with a high refresh rate screen. 90hz is a big jump from 60hz. I don't like the bulk and extra weight of the iPhone Pro models.
  • I use all Google services so using a Pixel device provides the most unified experience between my Windows desktop and my Phone. Gmail, Chrome, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google passwords, etc. I can run most of these on Apple but the experience isn't consistent.
  • Cameras on Pixel are chefs kiss. Never been a fan of Apple's "true to life, flatter" look.
The big issue I have with Google is the hardware really. The 6 was a disaster and the 7 still has it's issues. I'm holding out for the 8 because it's smaller than the 7 supposedly, but if they **** up the hardware again I'm out and will be on an iPhone 15 crying in 60hz.

I moved from the Pixel 5 to the S23, its the closest in size and functionality at the moment (Zenfone is close but cameras are poor)

- S23 is a bit heavier
- More fragile with the glass back
- Has a dedicated zoom camera but overall I prefer the Pixel processing
- Rubbish Samsung software everywhere

+ Faster
+ Better battery life (but its brand new)
+ Better screen with genuinely useful AOD options unlike the Pixel with on/off only

Will also look at the 8 later this year and compare with the S23, also knowing the S24 might arrive Q1 next year

I'd be interested to hear about the hardware issues with the Pixel 7.im thinking of getting a 7A and wonder what issues there may be with them.

Back to android for me and the Pixel line. Picked up a Pixel 7 and Watch during the ongoing discount and got an additional £75 back from Amex as they had a spend over £550 in the Google Store offer so perfect timing. I know the Pixel 8 is right around the corner but my 14 Pro was doing my head in with it's weird battery drain so wanted to get rid of it.

First impressions, super happy with the combination. The phone seems absolutely solid in the battery stakes, will easily last a day from it. The Watch has also surprised me, despite the mixed reviews here and generally online. Super comfortable with the stretch band loop on it and the FitBit integration works well.

Apple Music on Android :D

Pixel 7 is a lovely phone. I'd recommend changing the layout from 4 icons to 5, makes much better use of the size. Photos on the Pixel line are chefs kiss and the main reason I stick with them.

ditto to the above. my Pixel 5 battery is getting a bit worn now :D - pinning everything on the 8 :D
 
Anyone get an issue with Spotify sort of not linking to the Pixel watch? Last time I had this happen I reinstalled Spotify to fix it. If I wake the watch I can see what's playing but when I put Spotify on top it's blank like nothing is playing so I can't pause and skip tracks.
 
Camera app keeps crashing.
No updates available.
Only a reboot fixes it.
Not the first time, but it's not a consistent issue, hopefully software?
Just frustrating:p

I think you've got a dodgy one to be honest, you've had a few random issues haven't you?
 
Maybe I should take it up with Google directly. Just the hassle, grrrrr.

I factory reset it. Im off today and the weekend so not an issue other than time wasted :P

Had to send my X30 back to Nokia to fix the USB port, and went back to my Pixel 3. Reminded me that despite not wanting to give Google money, they do make good phones.

Picked up a mint Pixel 7a from Cex this morning for £360. Don't know how they sell regular 7s, the 7a is perfect. Price, size, features. Phone sorted for 5 years until security updates run out. Will shift the X30 when it comes back from Nokia.

get new for £306 on vodafone at the moment (unlocked)
