Hunting for a place to build my first outpost. Landed on a random moon and where I landed at a abandond bio lab, abandoned military refuel station and a couple landing sports, and a load of doodads. Unfortunatley I have no option to take over the either of the excellent condition facilities that have all the crafting stations etc.

I got a weapon called 'Advanced Regulator' it does 110 phy dmg and is allowing me to one shot ~(head) enemies 4 levels above at time on hardest setting lol. It's not even rare.

@mid_gen Why do you think that 'grading' is lost? Maybe it is without HDR enabled too but I don't think that can be captured in screenshots. Also, what do you mean by grading, I've just based that answer on a term I've never heard.

6800xt with 5600 non x, what should I be setting up for 1080p? 32gig 3600 ram.
Thought I should be able to run this no probs, seemed jerky in the first city I landed in, settings that came with it were mostly high/ultra, I just want a bit smoother all around.
Going to do that afterburner thing mrk has to check temps and speeds later, been sick since Friday so I haven’t been on since then.

Well, unless MSI Afterburner acts up, I'm not limited by the CPU on a 4080 and 5800x3d (not yet anyway).

Not that great looking, but running around 60fps or under in New Atlantis ) On a freaking 4080, 1080p native

Just wow. Only thing running worse (but better with FG), is CB with PT, but at least that one looks better.

Fingers crossed is just nVIDIA's driver acting up. Going full power the GPU should draw around 300W, but is only 200W there now.

That is about what I get on my 6950XT at 3440x1440 ultra preset. You don't have dynamic scaling on do you? that option kills fps for me for some odd reason.

As an RTX3060TI owner,I think the RTX4070 is a terrible money grab,because of what it did below £500. It offered the same 35% to 45% generational improvement that the RTX3060TI had from the RTX2060 Super(for £400),and the same improvement the RTX2060 Super had from the GTX1070 had for similar money. So please stop trying to make it look good,when it was the main reason that the only new generation choice I have for £400 is a useless RTX4060TI. The rest are older cards which are halfway through their driver support period.

Its so poorly priced,that AMD upsold the RX7700 and RX7700XT as the £430 RX7700XT 12GB and £470~£480 RX7800XT 16GB,when they should be £50 cheaper. Yet even at those inflated prices,both the RX7700XT/RX7800XT are simply better value,and that comes from a person with Nvidia hardware currently. Plus they come with the full copy of this game worth nearly £70,not a nonsense OW2 battlepass.

The power consumption argument never concerned me with even a 12 litre NCase M1,otherwise I would have got an RX6600/RX6800 card. Even comparing months where I barely game to some of my heaviest months,I can't see a massive change in power consumption costs myself.

The RX6600/RX6800 were the most efficient cards of their generation - yet everyone suddenly started talking about power consumption since April 2023? Our energy prices have been going up since late 2021. Everyone reviewer should have been pushing the RX6600 and RX6800 in Europe until April 2023? People would have saved lots by then,surely?

You know why? The Nvidia review guidelines probably "suggested" putting in power figures. But "not" when they had tons of RTX3070 and RTX3080 cards to clear out. Yet when AMD was ahead the previous generation,how many of these review sites put these numbers in?Almost sounds like a way to sell trash like the RTX4060TI for £400 because muh power consumption. So as much as you say you are not influenced by reviews,you sort of have been. It happened with the GTX960 2GB.People were buying them over the R9 290 4GB for almost the same money(you could get them for as low as £170 with decent custom coolers) in full sized gaming rigs. For all the power that was saved,what was the point? Small PC sure,but huge ATX rigs?

I look forward to the £500 RTX5050TI 14GB in early 2025 which is 5% slower than an RTX4070 12GB,£50 cheaper,has 2GB more VRAM and consumes 20% less power. AMD can release the RX8600XT 18GB for £50 cheaper which is 2.5% faster than the RX7800XT 16GB it replaced and consumes 3% less power.

Aye. The refuel outpost is built into the cracks of a creator as if they were trenches. Looks great. I'm trying to work out if I can build my base within range of it so I can just nip over to use the crafting stations.

This is when being able to land anywhere within the allowed areas would have been great instead of fixed locations. Like in this instance, being able to land next to the outpost and then build very close to it would have been so useful.

Within 1km ish there's the fuel station with a small landing pad and the bio lab with a medium. It's so annoying I can't fly down and use them. Or even pick them to land at.

I have a 5700x and a 4070 both undervolted and the 4070 is underclocked (still higher than ref nvidia card but my asus is 350mhz or something stupid higher than the ref card out the box and oc's to 3-3.1ghz and 500mhz on the ram - see 8Packs review on the ocuk YT video if you want more info) and I get 52-60 fps at 1440p ultra natively with dynamic resolution scaling off, and with the dlss2 mod by puredark I get 90-110fps...

Something is definitely wrong with your system? FWIW I haven't updated my gpu drivers either, I just installed whatever was out on the 26th august when I bought the card and haven't touched them since - IIRC the driver I chose was like 8 days old at the time.

So maybe it's a driver issue for you?

Well I’ve maxed out the weight and health perk. Cheesed the weightlifting perk and just did laps around my ship

Still so many places I haven’t discovered. Trying to level up lockpicking, but frustrating to keep only finding locks I can’t access.

Some of the armour designs are brilliant.

All in all, 20 hours in and loving this game.

I have also maxed the health perk and as soon as I turn level 12 and get my skill point I will have max weighlifting also

Apart from that I am also working on lasers and security.

I think I have played about 11-12 hours now so slowly catching up. Might be able to get in another hour or two today if lucky.

I found a ship parked up while exploring NA. Boarded it and took of. When I set back down I thought oh nice, can sell it maybe. But you needed to pay 6K or there abouts to be the registered owner. Still cheap I guess compares to what other ships cost.

The ship I want costs like 250K and I only have half the money. Wondering if I should just upgrade the ship I have for now. I mean i have hardly spent any time exploring space. Just jumped from Kreet to NA as I recall and that was it.

Once I do a bit more exploring on NA I will start doing some bounty missions I think. Also want to go visit our solar system.

Fun stuff. Surprised so many people letting disappointment from their expectations get in the way.

Mate, did you not read what I said? I've been into this since the q66 stepping quad core but when that would munch £12 off the elecy meter in 5 days of use/left on when at work dling etc...

And ironically as I stated previously, it was the 6600XT that made me think oh it's not just me that's into this performance per watt experience? So no I don't think it's something Nvidia started doing at all to sell cards, being an AMD guy at heart I think it's actually something AMD did from the start, probably to warn people who haven't updated their psu's that they might need to?

After all we can now buy 1200w-2000w PSU's as if that's 'normal' now for a box that plays a game that doesn't even power the screen/sound - ridiculous... Why would you just burn money like that if you can do it more efficiently?

As I also said above, I love modifying cars/swapping engines/tuning... But I wouldn't have a Rotary and make out it's a prius mpg wise either... Nor would I have one if I could make the same power with a piston engine... I'd rather have more mpg for the same power and be able to drive it more/further?

So it is a factor, as like I said by the 3rd year I own my current 4070 It'll have cost me nothing in what I've saved in electric playing games 6 hours every day of the year (which I do of an evening) vs spending literally DOUBLE the price to power a 6950/7900xt based system... Pointless.

My entire system which is undervolted heavily on the gpu (105-135w max at 1440p native ultra in any game or 4k high or 4k dlss ultra and that includes if I'm using dlss it still wont go above that) uses what a 7900xt uses on it's own at peak... Let that sink in for a second then add the rest of the hardware then work that out at kw/h at 6 hours x 365... Literally throwing away money each year for similar performance when you could be saving it after the cards paid off and then putting that money towards the next card upgrade...

Oh and I'ma AMD guy but wont be biased when something does what I want it to (same with cars or anything I build/modify/own) and with my heavily undervolted/silent/cool system this setup cannot be beaten for the money. I literally saved £600 on my original build budget and managed to get a monitor and still have nearly £200 left!

Lol. I would never restart personally. Don't care about the house stuff that much. I did think about it when picking the perks and it was something that did not bother me and still does not. I am hoping I can avoid the outpost stuff also or do the bare minimum with it.
