which side most likely to win this?
I assume you mean apart from the arms companies and energy companies?

Short term innocent Palestinian citizens will lose the most. Longer term this could turn really nasty if things in the region escalate to the point of Iran getting involved. Then all hell breaks loose in the region and we have an energy shock. Even worse if it escalates beyond the region along the lines I've briefly mentioned before (Ukraine, NATO, Israel, etc vs Russia, NK, Iran, etc).

Unless I am mistaken, Hamas are the voted ruling political party in Palestine. That's like saying "don't blame the German people for WW2 when it was just the Nazi's / Hitler committing horrific acts".

I'm well aware that is a gross simplification, but what's going on today is nothing like the IRA situation.
They were voted in once, 18 years ago, and won by 3%

Since then there hasn't been another parliamentary election

And on top of that, many more companies (such as social media and others) make millions out of the horror of people's lives being ended or changed for ever, but on top of that it puts back any potential progress by another generation at least.

Unfortunately the world's largest economy (USA) has always been blindly pro Israel, they could be so influential in being a force for good, but they never will in this circumstance. If Trump comes back into power, expect Palestine and Palestinians to no longer exist.

Aren't Sinn Fein and the IRA/Continuity IRA inextricably linked as political and paramilitary wings of the same orgnanisation ... With Sinn Fein now the biggest party over there?

Yes Sinn Fein is now the largest party. During The Troubles Sinn Fein was an illegal organisation in the UK. Once the IRA agreed to lay down arms then Sinn Fein was legalised.

Yes - 25 years after a peace deal, which has largely worked.

Oh, I agree its largely worked but that doesnt mean there has been none:

Four months after the agreement, IRA dissidents planted a car bomb that killed 29 people in the town of Omagh, the deadliest single attack in Northern Ireland. But despite sporadic attacks since then by small splinter groups, peace has held

But their paramiltary wing (IRA) is still proscribed in the UK just like Hamas?

My point is pretty clear TBH - We were aware that there were innocent civilians within Ireland and we were able to separate them from the Irish terrorists. All I'm saying is this attack should be reported as Hamas attacks and not Palestinian i.e. it should be shown as a terrorist group attack as opposed to a country attacking another... Simply put, is Israel at War with Palestine or with Hamas?

Hamas control the Government of Palestine though.

We consider Ukraine to be at war with Russia, not at war with United Russia (Putin's political party). So why is Israel at war with Hamas and not at war with Palestine when Hamas are the controlling Government?

Perhaps they could also do more to stop illegal settlements from being established in Palestinian territory.
Just so I understand this correctly, the British/French/Germans/Greeks/Italians etc do not rampage through the holding areas for illegal immigrants in their countries committing wholesale slaughter and kidnappings? But if they did, you would be OK with that as a form of protest?

They haven't been voted in. There hasn't been an election in Gaza since 1972.

IRA elements have always supported Palestine. The youth wing of Sinn Fein updated their profile picture to supporting Palestine as Hamas were gunning down innocent people.

That's not true, Hamas were voted into power in the 2006 PLC elections and Hamas formed a new Government

We consider Ukraine to be at war with Russia, not at war with United Russia (Putin's political party). So why is Israel at war with Hamas and not at war with Palestine when Hamas are the controlling Government?

Because Russia mobilised its national armed forces to fight another nation ergo its a country that is fighting the war, not an organisation.

I appreciate that Palestine doesnt have a similar military, with the closest being the Palestinian Security Services. Are the PSS fighting Israel at the moment (I cant find any evidence they are)?

I don't think Trump's re-election has much bearing here. The damage, literally, will have been done before the next US elections come around.

Another key international item is the Saudi-Israeli deal, which has to be affected by this. It will be interesting to see how that plays out in coming weeks.

Blinken, the US secretary of state, was due in Saudi this week. Not sure if that will still go ahead.

They also forced Fatah and the PA out of Gaza, so there's literally nobody else to vote for. But the Palestinians aren't complaining, because they prefer Hamas anyway.

Oh it was more of a "imagine if" rather than looking at actual time lines.
