EV general discussion

That’s not bragging because it’s a great EV, but despite it being a EV. Ironically owning any EV has absolutely zero bragging rights in the grand scheme of things to brag about. Bragging about owing any EV is like bragging you are vegan, or a tree hugging hippy. Most people just think you are a frootloop and think “I wonder if they are on day release from the institution”.

Same could be said about bragging about absolutely anything, e.g. a fancy watch, or an expensive holiday. It is just a totally cringy thing to do, and for those sorts of people who work in sales and wear Gucci belts.

As for the I-Pace, it is a nice vehicle but still has its flaws - I hated all the glossy black plastics when we looked at one, and the infotainment system was horrid (this was 2019), and for us the staggering size of the pack versus the real world range wasn't a positive, regardless if other people don't care about theirs.

Sorry we were talking vehicle attributes not bragging about stuff like sales numbers.

Maybe they should brag as IPACE has a true self driving car based on the Google Waymo project bit I guess you didn’t read about that?

In other news Ford fiesta better than Ford GT owing to its sales figures. Pretty embarrassing stuff pc man. This isn’t Sega vs Nintendo or messi Ronaldo playground stuff.
You're going to have to help us all out with your “hundreds of millions” too, who are these people?

But no one was bragging…

Nobody was bragging about the I-Pace, just comparing attributes. Sales numbers and popularity does not dictate how good something is. That is not even a subjective opinion, just factual.

The I-Pace has flaws and I personally think the interior looks dated and the infotainment is a mess, but as a car it was much nicer to drive than every other EV I tested. Though you have to be fine with your suspension being on the sporty side. As an EV it is mediocre at best with poor efficiency and slow charging times. But personally I don’t mind an extra 20 minutes of charging time on the rare occasions I exceed the battery range.

This is an ‘odd’ comment even for you.

Tesla Model Y - THE best selling car in the world - yet not sure the market buys into a minimalistic style interior.
The Model Y is one of the two models on offer here that is just about suitable for families, so I'd argue that's more of a causation than a correlation. Also, the amount of inflight changes to models means most folk haven't wrapped their head around the extent of the changes. I know of folk specifically looking for older Tesla's because of the dumb decision to remove the indicator stalk.

I think the catalyst to the masses realising how garbage these interiors are will be credit to JLR :D

I"ve never driven an i-pace myself, but I've never seen a review for it that hasn't praised it's driving dynamics and feel.

It's one of the first proper EV's that was released (I remember watching the launch on a live stream) and it hasn't received any major updates since then (other than to it's infotainment) so you can understand why it's being left behind a bit.

And on another point someone made - EV's have a few party tricks, but essentially straight line acceleration and quietness are the main ones.

Maybe I am a child but I still don't get tired of the silly acceleration in my car. I don't think I would be happy driving an EV with low range and performance, like a Kona.

Here’s a real world Cupra Born trip from yesterday lol

Must be a miracle getting 4.5-5kWh from yours at motorway speeds

I dont get this? OP posts he got 2.9 at an average of 60mph and you post you got 3.27 at an average speed of 30mph? What point are you trying to make?

Judging by that map he managed to fly/go as the crow flies.

I was doing 63 indicated (60-61 GPS) on the motorways. However that never works out as 60 average, you have to factor in the inconvenient parts of the journey as well. According to the driving stats in the Audi app, my average for that trip was 47mph.

Yeah EQC has passed me by a little, I guess I don't know much about them so my fear is there is super complicated 'extras' list which I no nothing about ;)

Very rare to see a 100 score on leaseloco

That EQC is cheap on my SS scheme currently - £420 per month for 12k miles.
Ideally you want the Premium Plus model though, which jumps to £620 and the Driving Assistant Package Plus (Including Active Cruise) is a £1.7k option on both.

I looked at one in 2020, and personally I wouldn't get one but for the person talking about buying second hand EV's for 30-35k ish it might have been a good option as it only worked out at £12,000 for 2 years of motoring.

It seems to have disappeared already.

You probably skimmed over it without reading it properly

Someone else said they got 4.5-5 mi/kWh out of their Born, I wasn't replying to the e-tron efficiency figures

Tronity.....^................................................... Jaguar Remote.........^

Tronity on mine does, :p Guess the app geostamps start and stops of journey. Was that consumption close to the actual car. Tronity interpolates %SoC to estimate kWh.

Should have been clearer, Tronity's data link for the Cupra/MEB platform is crap :D

Jag remote data is pretty good... haven't felt the need to link to Tronity on that

I like the year maps its gives but then so does MyPace iOS app - 19942 miles there. Tronity calso has the option to add the charge event flags too.

Also uses rounded battery % so isn’t great on shorter trips.
