Invasion (Apple TV)

I'm enjoying this a lot.. as I like more depth character development, and interesting side stories, over.. lets rush through and only have things that move the main story on type series..

Season 2 has started well, (if you can overlook the kids aging ;) ) just hoping that it doesn't get cancelled due to the strikes, or lack of viewers.
 
from what was post online in various places a lot of apple tv+ shows are on indefinitely on hold, silo, foundation, for all mankind etc. due to strike, depend how long it last is whether they greenlight production or just cancel and go with new shows. silo was renew for season 2 but now on hold foundation was going to be greenlight for season 3 but again decision for season 3 is on hold same with other shows.
 
I didn't bother watching this after the 1st episode a couple of years ago as it didn't grip me, but after seeing a trailer for series 2 I decided to try again. I finished series 1 last night and really enjoyed it. I'll start series 2 tonight.
 
I actually enjoyed the first season...the suspense and not knowing what the aliens were or what they wanted etc was intriguing . Max Richter's score was good, and i thought the tone it set was quite good.

Right from the outset of the second season it seems like it was written and directed by completely different people. The entire tone of the whole thing completely changed. It went from suspenseful, dark, terror etc to incredibly irritating caricatures of characters (the CEO bloke...jesus christ), stupid over the top action scenes and generic nonsense. The second season was literally one of the most ridiculous and insulting bits of television i have ever watched.

Honestly, it felt like it was written by AI at times (the second season). So much of it just makes zero sense and it looks like they wanted to shred any sense of originality and just chuck in every generic sci fi trope possible. Even the aliens (hunter-killers...lol) got massively more boring in design and behaviour.

The whole season essentially was a build up to this..:


"Everything is connected....to the mothership!! Who knew!"

..I'm still going to hate watch season 3 to see if it gets any worse :D

It's still absolute brain rot, and not the good kind. I can't believe how the characters are seemingly completely unaware of how contemptably stupid their choices are.

It genuinely makes me seethe :cry:, and I've watched everything else that's decent :(, so I'm just making 1000% sure I won't ever return to this in the future wondering "mmm I wonder if that was any good", because I know it's not.


On a more serious not, if you do want to challenge your BS tolerance levels, just make sure there's no throwable objects within arms length, and the tv is out of kicking range. It's not even so bad it's good kind of bad, the writers, directors, scriptwriters, just all of them should be relegated to making crappy music videos or perhaps explore a career with less reason for anyone to be aware of their existance beyond family. :cry:

This is the worlds worst invasion series, its absolutely boring and cost 50mil?

Colony was miles better than this crap and got cancelled, hows this managing to get 3 series
