Recommend me a coffee machine

Just Googled that. With respect, why would anyone pay so much just to make coffee at home?

Why does anyone buy anything?

Why buy a £100000 Porsche when you could buy a Dacia?

Why buy a £1500 GPU over a £100 one?

Why buy a £5000 camera over a £50 one?

And so on.

You can pay thousands just for a coffee machine, wouldn't be my cup of tea to spend so much, but people can and do, and out of all the things people spend money on, I'd rate coffee as being right up there.

Because I like nice coffee in the morning, and it’s quicker than going to a decent local coffee shop. I don’t class Costa / Starbucks as decent coffee anymore.

Additionally, it’s a strange comment to bump an old thread for; what’s that about?

My guess is random post spam to keep MM access open.

DeLonghi ESAM4200.S here. Wife bought it for me back in 2013 and its still going strong. Generally gets used 3-4 times a day.

At risk of being accused of trying to keep a post count up, so I can see what computer components are for sale in a different section, I would like to respond.

I would imagine the taste/quality of a cup of coffee wouldn't be as significant as the difference between a £100,000 Porsche and a Dacia - or a £5000 camera and a £50 one. Not great examples.

Never mind though, I was only curious.

If you want to fall into the rabbit hole, it is very easy to spend a fortune on coffee gear.

If you want something that squirts out a decent cup of coffee with minimal effort then a Barista Express will do just fine.

Another thing to take a look at is the Aeropress.
35quid and it is loved around the world.

Pick a budget and consider the amount if effort needed at 6am to make a brew.

That's not fair. I am after a coffee machine and did a search before starting a thread. Seems nothing is beyond suspicion these days.

Yeah, that's why I asked what it was about rather throwing accusations about.

On your second post tho, there is a significant difference between an instant coffee and a nice espresso. There are steps inbetween, aeropress, french press, moka pot.. I have them all and they all require decent coffee beans going in too.
My espresso machine is something I'd replace straight away if it broke tho - it's easier to use than the others, and makes consistent, decent coffee (if you put good beans in). It's still only a cheap machine, £500 is small change for some setups :o
