Executed by nitrogen gas

Yeah, I read a similar thing elsewhere, to execute sounds a bit dodgy to me - I mean it looks as though the evidence shows that he was involved, however I think that a life sentence would have been more appropriate.

I don't support the death penalty, but if it's decided they're going to use it - I think it should only be reserved for the absolute worst crimes imaginable (child rape and murder, mass murder, terrorism etc) not murder for hire.
"The 45-year-old was beaten with a fireplace implement and stabbed in the chest and neck, and her death was staged to look like a home invasion and burglary."

Beaten and stabbed to death for money and people have sympathy for this scumbag being put to sleep painlessly? Unbelievable.

There should be no softly softly kindness given to any wrongun that does disgusting crimes/rape/murder/peado/abuser, if anything they should switch the chemicals up like in Law Abiding Citizen and make it really ******* hurt when they administer them, whilst everyone watches and laughs.
This is pathetic honestly. Sorry.

We don’t need to be doing that. Just do it swiftly and get it over with.

None of this inhumane nonsense.

The execution is bad enough but then you have the delays, appeals etc that drag it out interminably for both sides. People can live for years not knowing their fate and the fact is some of these people have either been wrongfully convicted or wrongfully sentenced. Putting one innocent person through that is too many.

Appeals are the only way to make it even remotely sane, unfortunately for the repressed murderers among us that means their argument that it's cheaper than life imprisonment is garbage.

Sympathy lol

Can you imagine 35 years on death row, being put through a botched execution- then being given another 2 years before you’re finally executed.

Sounds like actual living hell to me.

Also if its not proportionate and you get decades of mental torture, a failed attempt to kill you and then suffocate like a landed fish for being a feeble tag along ,yes it was horrendous but he may as well have gone on a killing and rape fest and got the same sentence.
in for a penny and all that

I don't think it is sympathy, is it?

I mean, personally, I have no empathy for murderers. They deserve what they get. But I don't believe the state should kill people. Firstly, there is always the possibility they have gotten it wrong. Secondly, it's a better punishment to keep someone alive and locked up. Thirdly, it makes the state little better than the criminal. Killing people just smacks of state sponsored revenge.

Wish I could unread the article I just read on this. Disgusting way to execute someone, especially after the botched attempt in 2022 on him. Then the Alabama governor celebrating at what they'd achieved. Rank.

Because they can’t get the drugs.

Don't really understand this argument. General anaesthetic is easily available. Knock them out then up the dose. Induce a coma then up the dose. Or knock them out with anesthetic then use a method such as the nitrogen gas. There are lots of drugs that would kill a person when the dose was increased.

I think it's the companies that make the drugs don't wish to provide them to a state for executions. At least that was my understanding with the cocktail for a lethal injection.
