But that's in a PC. I don't want a PC in my living room. Already have a 7900gre in my PC.

The pro is a lot more hardware than that. 2tb ssd, motherboard and CPU. I just didn't feel it's that bad a deal. It's a premium product that you don't have to buy.

Agreed 800 for gpu is maybe a little inflated but its what I paid prior to the 7900gre and what I expect to pay again in 3 years

Be interesting to see if it helps out the PSVR2 much or if devs bother to update etc.

It's been a rough gen man, gaming just feels more expensive than ever with less choice in big title games than ever before.
 
£700 and they expect you to buy the £100 disc drive to attach to it!!

I was genuinely considering getting a PS5 pro, potentially to play GTA 6

Not anymore....


Honestly, £700 will likely get you a pretty powerful 5000 series GPU as well by then.

I guess I'll just wait for GTA 6 on PC

Im just comparing it to PC hardware prices.

If I was to build a similar PC it would likely cost me more money so ill justify it that way :) .

I've made way more dumb impulsive purchases before so yolo.

People get offended by the existence of something they don't need to buy.

Not to mention the 5000 series will be out by then or thereabouts .

£500-£600 will possibly net you 4080 super performance when that happens.

PS5 Pro console will be available this holiday at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (includes tax). It will include a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom pre-installed in every PS5 Pro purchase. PS5 Pro is available as a disc-less console, with the option to purchase the currently available Disc Drive for PS5 separately.

If it anything like the PS4 Pro and PSVR1. Not many devs bothered, doesn't help PSVR2 is basically dead in the water.

Yes the way digital is increasing it won’t matter to most that there is no drive. I can afford this as I am lucky that my wife and I have disposable income but at £700 I feel that is too high for, well we don’t know yet how that will translate to performance of what’s already out there nor what is to come. Happy with my PS5 until something can convince me that the PRO model is such a big upgrade that I have to have it. We will have to see but I’m not going to buy it at that price just for the sake of the thing.

For me there have been a lot of games this year which really struggle on PS5 which I hope will be resolved on Pro. Jedi Survivor, Alan Wake 2, Wukong, Outlaws, Space Marine 2 etc. etc.

I still think we'll get a state of play before TGS, or a LOT of Sony content at TGS. They need to let the price digest for a week then come back with some more reasons to consider it.

And they'll likely still struggle with this Pro model, because games like Space Marine 2 are CPU bound, and other titles like Jedi Survivor and Outlaws are just poorly optimised.

edit. Oh, and as for games. We already know there won't be any 1st party titles before April 2025. The Venom DLC / Spider-man expansion is probably the next "big" thing in late 2025 - and that's being developed with base PS5 in mind.

You might be right for SM2 framerate, but feels like the others can improve image quality a lot with a resolution bump and finally moving away from the frankly dreadful FSR. UE5 just seems to kill the PS5, woeful image quality so far.

Depends on how you analyze that data - the 70% digital sales comes from MTX and live service games eg. Fortnite. For gamers who like the Sony 1st party cinematic action games, physical sales are higher than digital sales.
