This does not surprise me

Every single person?
Does that not mitigate the purpose of a designation?

Genuine question. How would you ask for someone by name if everyone had the same name? I'm assuming there's a sub name or something?

The Muslim population of GB is around 6.5% of the total population. Muslims account for an estimated 10-12% of all births in the UK due to higher fertility rates compared to the national average.

Research suggests that 15-20% of Muslim men worldwide have Mohammed (or variant) as their first name or part of their name.

This aligns with the figures that 'If about 6,500 boys are named Mohammed or a variant annually and Muslim births are approximately 35,000–40,000 boys per year, then around 16-20% of Muslim boys in the UK are named Mohammed (or a variant).'

TLDR: Muslims like breeding and the name Mohammed.

Greg is a name thats going to be dropped now!! Same as Gary and Jimmy and Rolf...lol

This thread reminds of of....

If you are ever asked to guess a males name say Mohammed Smith as that's statistically the best option.

well English people stopped naming their childern modern names like "Arlo" and "Luca", a good biblical name like "Adam" maybe top..
Those aren't especially modern... Arlo is Old English, and Luca is of the same Latin/Italian origin as Lucas.

I’m astounded it’s made it to page 3.
Where’s Chris Wilson when you need him?
Forget him, where's Linda Lusardi?

Now if I were naming a kid today and wanted to name it after a namesake they could look up to, would I go for Prince Andrew, Andrew Tate, Mo Farah or Mo Salah?

Yeah, my little one would definitely be a Mo.

My son is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Only 13 babies were given the same name as him in 2013 when he was born.

Somebody names a teddy bear Mohammed they get threatened with beheading and death, yet name the spawn Mohammed and everything's fine. I don't get it.

Oh heck, this is just the first step - give it a couple of years and Christmas will be outlawed.

You're not thinking big enough.

We'll convert the churches to mosques too. I mean they're not used so might as well since we're no longer a christian country! ;)

I just checked for mine, only 29 of them for my son on his birth year.

My daughter seems to be more popular though we have yet to come across anyone else with her name.

It's probably been the top name for about 15 years now, if they would have counted all the different spellings as one

The UK will look very different in 30-40 years time and nothing can stop it from happening.

All these kids aren't named after Salah.

I'd make a long whine about our culture being wiped out, but our government and big business killed our culture long before immigration did.
