x870e asrock phantom nova

Could be a really strange coincidence but since I got this board and charge my Iphone 16 Pro Max via USB-C on the board or via PC case my power supply makes an awful noise around the PSU fan area (NZXT C1500W PSU which isn't a month old) and PSU fan goes crazy. I can't replicate it with any other device. I've ordered another PSU in the interim, anyone else had any similar issues? So strange!

EDIT: Asus 1200W ATX 3.1 PSU arrived today and from limited testing can't replicate it so will have to RMA the NZXT PSU.

Are you sure you haven’t accidentally pressed the switch on the back for the PSU fan stop?

it was making a strange clicking noise when the fan was on and off (didn't matter if the fans were on stop or not). The ASUS one works fine so suspect it was faulty as the retailer refunded me last week.

Are people here still happy with this board. Is it a good choice for the 9950x3d or if you could, would you go for something else?

I will be dropping in a 9950x3d chip in the next few days so can report back when its all done and hopefully up and running.

Fwiw its been rock solid stable for me on my 7900X with bios 3.08 so I will be going straight to 3.20 and update the chipset drivers before I drop in the 9950x3d.

Hi Yes, all working perfectly fine for the moment.

Bios updated to 3.20 and I already had the latest chipset installed.
Tested everything at default settings and all OK - Booted in Windows no issues and using PC as normal.

Decided to enable EXPO and adjusted some timings manually.
Running 3D Mark successfully a hand full of times passed without any issues. Running Black ops 6 maxed out at 4K no issues for a few hours - Core parking working perfectly.

This is my 3Dmark run - https://www.3dmark.com/spy/54081460 - Still got some tuning to do but for now I want to test its long term stability on this board.

CPU install

great any problems with usb 4 or m2 not enough lanes or something like that? thanks

Newly built 9800x3d, 9070xt and the Asrock Nova here, looks good in a Fractal North- updated bios to 3.20 and running really nicely. XPO on and benchmarking in progress

Another few days have passed with this chip (9950X3d) and reporting back, running totally stock settings apart from Expo and its running great so far. 4K gaming in black ops 6 which in my case uses about 10 Cores with the main CCD0 x3d doing the heavy lifting and 2 cores on CCD1 with no major performance loss, its truly a great chip.

With the burning 9800X3d some were mentioning over volting issues and blaming Expo for this and possibly true as Expo may have increased the SOC and Vcore to the chip resulting in burning.
The new bios was then released which may have fixed this.

Heres my Cinebench R23 Run with Expo enabled - CL30 - 6000Mhz and some timings manually adjusted (trfc)

Pay attention to SOC Voltage which seems to be within check and not going above 1.2v

Well ignore all this, multiple reboots and was still showing x8, checked bios settings and still no change, so switched off to have a break. Come back and boot pc checked again and now showing x16 so no idea why it changed back but happy it did.
