Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

Interestingly BRK.B hit an all time high today. Days after Buffett allegedly sold up a lot of his S&P500 position to remain hugely in cash. It seems the bears are exerting a bit of control now. Will be interesting to see how long it lasts. Nvidia earnings on Thursday will be interesting. I have a suspicion that there will be a bit of a pull back on the whole AI sphere.

I’m going to question one of the greatest investors that’s ever lived.. lol

Buffet isn’t a young chap anymore, and yes.. he and Munger were pulling out of the market before Munger passed away. But maybe Buffet is simply pulling out of the market as he knows his race is nearly over and he won’t be able to out live any dip in the market? Or that he simply not finding investing as fulfilling now that his long term investment partner is gone.

Zero doubt that a correction is required but for those who should put live it, it should be seen as an investment opportunity.

Those ETFs he sold were a tiny percentage of his portfolio.. he still had huge positions in stocks. Hardly a bear.

"Despite what some commentators currently view as an extraordinary cash position at Berkshire, the great majority of your money remains in equities," Buffett wrote. "That preference won’t change
"While our ownership in marketable equities moved downward last year from $354bn to $272bn, the value of our non-quoted controlled equities increased somewhat and remains far greater than the value of the marketable portfolio," he said.

Thanks again for this, what is the fund version of VWRP/RL?

E: Is it this? Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap Index Accumulation (GBP)?
Whats the advantage of buying in the fund as opposed to ETF except for the price advantage above?

Yes thats it.

No idea tbh, originally you had only funds, but then someone made ETF's where it can be traded live while funds only trade once per day.

The Fund does have more stocks, not sure why that is the case.

Because the fund tracks tracks the FTSE global all cap index which includes small caps, the others track the large and mid caps from the FTSE all world index.

My tesla and plantir shorts + selling off are still not enough to turn my portfolio red.

Least sold some off!

should that not be green?

Let me get this straight you have both tesla and plantir shares that you are selling off as they dropping AND you have a levage negitive in both tesla and plantir
why don't you start offering call/put options instead?

This is how retail loses all the time.

Whatever strategy you are using, a very basic tenet should be not to panic sell when a big drop happens. It's just a guaranteed lose.

I'm not sure I agree. Markets at an all time high, crazy volatility from Trump and Russia/Ukraine, AI bubble and meme stocks at record valuations, there's plenty of room for this to carry on falling.

Im probably gonna be reset back a year by the time this week ends :p
Guessing another minus 2/3% on the lot tonight puts me on minus 100k krona in a week. No one to blame but myself lol.
Should have booked another holiday or 2 and stopped gambling .

Yeah.... Numbers in -10%. Wow... What a chunk... Let's stop there I hope ...
Nvidia earnings call tomorrow I can't see it having a huge rebound maybe stabalize?

I have never bailed out before, this time I did, and don't regret it one bit.

Bit of a bloodbath today.
That’s been the case the whole week lol. Even 500 is nearly wiped out the last year. The more risky pie I’ve got is down 12%. RR is holding up okay for now. Earnings on 27th afaik. May just bounce enough to get me out of red. But I’m not selling. These are all 5-10 year investments for me.

I have a host of other stocks (a lot I have sold out of on the way down).
I do not have any tesla or plantir except for -3x
I have sold my -3x on plantir as it was nicely up. But I think tesla is going to struggle while Musk is musking. Even the general public know Musk = Tesla.

But I still hold enough stocks to be overall down the last few days. Just not as badly as if I hadn't had sold anything. The - 3x on plantir and tesla have also mitigated the red.
