It's one of the last decent institutions this country has.
Yeah not sure how low the bar is then to be classed as “decent” Crazy salaries (Gary Lineker) won’t call Hamas terrorists (but happy fund them) and a massive paedophile ring. (Huw Edwards, Rolf Harris, Jimmy Savile and Tim Westwood to name a few)

The BBC is over 100 years old and has probably had a million people working for it in some capacity over that period. The fact there's been some paedophiles there really isn't surprising. Have you heard of the Catholic Church?

They didn't call the IRA terrorists either by the way.

Well, the fact that they’ve been going for 100 years they should be able to stand on their own two feet. The same way every other TV network operates, based on viewing figures and advertising revenues.

I said before, it’s not just that the BBC hired paedophiles, it is the fact that they covered it up for decades.

Yes, I am aware of the Catholic Church although I’m an atheist and don’t believe in imaginary friends. I believe religion should be treated as a mental illness tbh. That goes for all religions btw.

Hamas is a prescribed terrorist group under UK law. So why can’t the BBC call a spade a spade, every other network does?

thought this epitomized poor BBC standards - newsnight interview last night with racist spectator editor,
doctor who and it's DEI initiative is small beer in comparison.

It's true though. They refrain from calling groups terrorists or terror organisations. I gues in an attempt to seen to be impartial.

Agreed. But, I think like so many issues over the past twenty years, "reasonable" has gone too far and now there is a right-wing kick-back from the public who are just sick and tired of it.

They are tired of relentless immigration, woke, trans issues and so on and so on. It just seems that officialdom is confused and making endless ridiculous decisions, the BBC included.

There is that wonderfully pointless word again 'woke' it seems to mean absolutely everything and absolutely nothing at the same time based on who ever uses it.

This is the backlash to what has happened over the past 20 years. The BBC etc clearly trying to sweep things under the carpet hasn't helped.

It's been about 18 months since I stopped paying for it. Not yet received any letters. But we genuinely don't watch live TV (don't have the time).

With so many not needing TV licences anymore, I wonder how long till they change the rules again that you need one if you watch anything at all on a electronic device

It's been about 6 months for us since we cancelled ours. Like you, we have had nothing from them since and we do not watch any live TV what so ever as its always on catch up which is why we cancelled it in the first place.

Of you actually told them you were cancelling it even tells you they'll leave you alone for 2 years then check in with you then to see if you still don't need one.

You will suddenly get threat-o-grams at the end of two years forcing you to tell them again that you don't require their services. Ive never had this from any other company where you have to tell them you don't want their services.

I guess this is because you can freely access live TV without them knowing or having to go through them

Things like Netflix and streaming services all need an account or a subscription on that account to be active before you can do anything.

iPlayer still needs an account they just don't lock you out behind a paywall, this is a deliberate trap.

I'm going to shove a magazine through your door every month and then take you to court for not having paid for that service, its on you to prove you didn't read it.
