EV general discussion

It’s not gonna half the range. As said critical thinking please

In the real world it is a very real possibility with a van especially around this time of year. Sure with a moderate load and a trip up a motorway without much traffic you can probably bang in 70+% of WLTP but a decent load + passenger, average van driver style, cooler weather and a good amount of stop start traffic, etc. in the mix, especially if doing something like multi-drop, and around 50% can be a reality.

Not that our ICE vans don't see a similar hit but they still have a much higher range to work from.

what is the weight of the payload in your vans - parcels, building materials ....(I mean amazon/dpd don't deliver the latter so ev's more applicable, per their contracts)

True it's probably because I have capitalised the Buzz as a MPV with a stripped out Van edition rather than it being a serious van for serious van work. It's cargo space and payload is pretty low and floor is quite high for a van and it also costs a shed load of money. Where as most other vans with crew cabs are unapologetically van like.

I'm not sure I have actually seen a Buzz Cargo in the metal, I've seen loads of the MPV versions. According to how many left there are only about 2,500 on the road at the moment vs about 3100 MPV's, I'm a little surprised there is not more given the 'buzz' that surrounded this vehicle at concept stage and launch.

The WLTP range isn't halved when you load a van, where have you got that from? Last time I checked, loading an enclosed van also doesn't materially change the aerodynamics like towing a massive square box does.
You can get a couple of pallets in a Buzz Cargo but I have no idea how it compares with a transit tbf

Given the Kia one is also based off a car platform I think the Buzz is the closest comp rather than a e-Transit or similar

Saw a BYD Seal in the flesh in a supermarket car park for the first time and was surprised that it’s a decent looking car. Can’t stand the looks of the MGs but the Seal looks to be a decent looking car inside and out.

Iv seen a a few now and was following one down the A11 yesterday got to say they are a very nice looking car. One to add to my list of potential EV’s to buy when I finally switch over.

We looked at the Seal, but the deals just aren't there vs the other models in their range, which aren't appealing at all. I don't think MG make a competitor to this car, so not sure what you were comparing it to, Cyberster? Or were you saying you don't like their SUV's as much as BYD's?

It was more a general observation and not a comparison. All the MGs I’ve seen I haven’t liked the looks of, so was surprised looking around the Seal that I quite liked it (talking about Chinese EVs I’ve come across)

Have you looked at Zeekr, landing here this year?

Yeah my father in law has one and it looks very premium inside.
