Not your everyday occurrence!

And by contrast I've had the PGA tour on this evening and saw Charlie Hoffman shank one into someone's back yard on the par three seventeenth

Peaks and trough yesterday

Tripled the first...then birdied 4 / 6 / 14 / 16, sprinkled in double bogies on 3 holes as well, then lost a ball on 15th...

Weird round but most of the poor scores just coming from duffed chips as the ground is so soft, club just digging in.

Still working on pre-shot routine and setup - driver coming along nicely with that but irons feel weird at the moment - feel like I'm still on my toes too much being further away. Need to sit back on my heels to balance out that feeling.

Out in my net for the first time in weeks because of the weather up here!

New grips have definitely given me a tighter dispersion on bad shots, the thing to get used to though is I’m now developing a fade as apposed to drawing the ball..not really losing much distance when I do cream it, and the accuracy is so much better it’s not even funny!

Lesson tomorrow so will see where I’m at, but with the lack of play I’m content with my progress so far..

Glorious weather this weekend. Was on for a good score in the monthly medal until I made a quad on 17, followed up with a triple on the last. Today, Captains Drive In, shotgun start off the 15th for my group. Get to the 17th, 7w-9i-1 putt birdie .

Edit: 7 birdies so far this year

Had a bit of a mental failure today, kinda feels like a while since that but hey...

Playing in the society (and also playing my 'joker' so wanted a good round), started off with a birdie which was nice but also ominous :p Around the 6th hole a group caught up with us, we weren't going slowly and never more than 'half a hole' behind the group in front which we generally caught back up so I wasn't too bothered but I was aware they were there which was fine until the 14th.

Toe'd my 5w right onto the 8th hole, no big deal but we walk up there and there's a 4-ball on the tee so we have to wait. This 4-ball then proceeds to take forever, or so it felt, to tee off. Two of them seemed to stand stationally over the ball for 20-30s each. Then after 4 hit I think I'm good to go, already checked yardage/picked club so went to my ball only to see one of them re-tee so I rush the shot, ok but semi-chunky. By now I'm very aware of the group behind and my head goes, duff several chips and eventually pickup.

But yeah my head just went, over those last 5 holes (14-18) I blobbed 3 of them, scored 3 points across that stretch. Just terrible and pretty sure it was all mental. Meh.

Anyone got any experience with Golf bag bags? As in, Golf travel bags for taking your clubs abroad?
I can see some for about £50. Any recommendations? I don't need the upmost protection and would rather it be cheap, since I don't own amazing clubs and won't be going abroad with them more than a couple of times a year at best.

Out today at The Kendleshire and had a really nice round. Golf wise it wasn't much different but lovely weather, great company and decent course what's not to like :) Reminded me just how enjoyable golf can be tbh, sometimes miss out on the experience in pursuit of scoring...

I ended up going with the Amazon Basics one, it may have been a touch more than £50 and it's 'ok', there's definitely better cases but also worse ones :p Seen some that didn't even have wheels which must be a complete pain lugging around the airport!

If you do end up getting a soft bag btw I'd reccomend picking up a 'support rod', basically an extendable pole with a 'hat' that you put in your bag and extend inside the travel bag and really gives it some shape/rigidity, plus it's meant to protect the clubs too a bit.

Also, pro tip, take off the heads of your Driver/Woods where possible, especially the driver as that's what sticks out and gets caught/broken, just chuck it in a side pocket or even your main luggage.

Which one is the basics one? I'm not sure I can see one listed that meets the "basics" description. :)
I was thinking wheels wouldn't be that big a deal....not sure now haha.

Hmm, just had a quick look and couldn't find it, trawling through my orders and it seems it's "Currently unavailable" so presumably EOL.

Few pics from St Andrews Beach :D

Won’t talk about how I played, standard length hire clubs with a mix of under size and normal grips, Callaway rouge ST irons and only a single wedge, was a bit of a change from my P790 and 3 x Vokey with Midsize grips set up and home :p

Still had a fantastic time with the Mrs in the sunshine!

MACGREGOR Unisex's VIP II Travel Cover - Got it last year

Was £62 - Took it to Spain - seemed great - no issues - tons of room, plenty of padding etc.

Played this morning and frankly it was too cold. Both of us couldn't get through the ball. Shivering away with running noses not being able to see balls in the middle of the fairway due to frost. Greens were like concrete but with the amount of sand on them, ran super slow and bumpy. 3 putts a plenty. Should have probably gone with an afternoon tee time but just can't play them on weekdays currently.

I was swinging my irons quite nicely for me. I'm topping them a lot less now. Wedge approach shots were lovely apart from one thinned. Putting, I am really trying to focus on not always leaving things short, but on todays greens, that can be excused. Driver continues to be just too random. I can only hit driver well after 10+ shots in the range where I really go for it. I just can't seem to reliably transfer that to the course. We did have zero warm up to be fair.
Winter golf in the UK just hits different. I'm going to Tenerife later this month and taking the clubs out there. Looking forward to that.

Yeah I saw that one booyaka. Might get that. I can see a cheap unbranded one for £25 on amazon. Checked reviews and it fell apart for a couple of people on first use. I think £50-70 seems the sweet spot.

yeah - only using it once a year myself but 4 of the other boys on the trip have had them for 3-5 years and rate them highly....

Out in the midweek roll up today, once the fog cleared. Was on for a new PB (chance of breaking 80) then the seventeenth happened, again! Fourteen today compared to the three on Sunday and eight on Saturday  Everyone after the round was coming up to recount their own horror stories on that hole. I quickly discovered there have been worse scores in competition :D

On the plus side with the score being capped to a seven by England Golf it means my handicap will be going back down :) Showing as a 14.4 differential at present.

I’m looking to go back into a forged club. I was fitted for s 300 dynamic gold shafts. I see a lot of the kbs tour lite shafts, how do these two compare? Similar?

I played Meltham Golf Club today which is a heathland course near Huddersfield. Really felt like summer with 16C and a nice breeze. Somehow the course was already very very dry and with it being on the side of the hill the ball really did run (mainly into trees) even on the good drives. Shot 79 which I'm happy with. That's 3 new courses ticked off in last couple of weeks. Nothing new planned for next few weeks now.
