OcUK GUIDE TO ORDERING YOUR AMD 9070 GRAPHICS CARD TODAY AT 14:00

Realistically there is nothing you can do to stop people from scalping if there's a supply shortage, even regular buyers who intended to use it will be tempted to resell if someone else is willing to pay significantly more than they bought it for. The solution would be to improve supply on launch day.
but it's the scalpers creating the shortage.

if company just flooded the market with enough supply for both scalpers and regular customers, the scalpers, unable to sell, would start returning products causing oversupply and the price collapse, something manufacturers and retailers don't want to face.

It's better for them just to keep gauging, ripping the customers off. It isn't in their interest to change anything... so nothing will change.

did you happen to see your order status go from confirmed to picking? Ordered last night at 10:14 but ended up with next working day shipping (just wanted to get the order through xD)
Sorry for late reply, yeah my order went to picking around an hour after ordering

Have to do a webnote as charged for delivery despite meeting all the criteria for free delivery! Presumably the system which detects that got turned off or overloaded due to the immense demand!

Post count it looks like?
I read that also, but as you see some others have a big post cound and got charge, I've not got one so I'm not to bothered, was interested in knowing only.

Exactly. The icing on the cake would be to just never buy from the scalper, and wait for restock.

It only works because people pay the inflated prices.

I think the whole MSRP thing is a bit shady in general. I wanted to make the purchased based off the reviews and they were at the MSRP, but then in reality that's only limited to how much AMD want to rebate the sellers. I know its been mentioned that the are looking it for further sales "MSRP pricing (excluding region specific tariffs and/or taxes) will continue to be encouraged beyond today so don't despair." but encouraging and telling are 2 different things and I'd like to hope some reviews perhaps are updated in light of the limited pricing.
With AMD not selling reference cards they are effectively not controlling the MSRP as AIBs and retailers can set their own prices.

Same here. I can't see anywhere on the DPD site that they say whether it will be delivered today or Monday.
Same here.

Had an XT in my basket at 2:00 but the site failures didn't let me complete checkout. Eventually those sold out but I managed to get a non-XT, too late for next day shipping for Friday, though, a day I had at home … had to pick Saturday shipping and pay extra for it, because that's the only other day I can be in

… but it didn't get out of the warehouse in time on Friday and now it's showing on the order status page as Sunday, maybe, with nothing from DPD other than it being on its way to the local depot.

Shipped
Estimated delivery date:
Mar. 09, 2025

Monday would be a problem.

Monday would be a problem.
My Order History at OCUK is still showing Premium Delivery next working day as that is what I selected following the guidance from gibbo on here. I don't know whether that means DPD will just hold it until Monday or try and deliver it today if they have it at the local depot. Today would be much better than Monday. Hopefully they will update the info when it reaches the local depot and give a delivery date.

But the reviews are against the MSRP so that doesn't add up. The reviews shouldnt even mention MSRP if that is the case

Each SKU should have a MSRP anyway.

If the MSRP is only for the first x units that's where I think reviews are potentially misleading

I mean where will it end ? A review of the latest high end GPU for £400 10/10 everywhere - amazing value - but actually say for 100 units the rest are £2000

i wonder how the reviews would have changed if they were not based off the MSRP,but rather the +£50-?? price premiums they are now?

im basing my purchase from reviews at MSRP,not inflated prices.
All reviews are always based on quoted MSRP as this is the best price/perormance expectation. +9% is nothing in the scheme of things when you can buy a AIB 5080 for £1600 which is 80% over the Base card. If the 5080 review was based on that it would have tanked even more. The issue is that AMD do not sell a MSRP reference cards themselves. So they can ask AIBs and retailers to sell certain models at MSRP but they are not obligated to.
It’s up to the consumer to decide if they are willing to pay more and still see value for money. This value proposition is different for everyone individual.

Person A might have a higher income than person B so the 9% more doesn’t make any difference to them, especially if we are only talking about £50 and they will be having that card for several years. We can debate if that is right or wrong all day long.

AIB cards should have a MSRP too though ?

Presumably prices in the 9070 range email OCUK sent out on release - which now doesn't really align to any of the prices

Just had a text from DPD saying the package will be delivered today at 0922-1022

This is just with normal postage selected so one of two things have happened they have bumped me up to saturday for free or because its local to the depot they are getting them out the door
