Assassins Creed Shadows - AC finally (at last) heads to Japan

I really missed the Mercenary system of Odyssey though. I would spend ages just tracking down other mercenaries and taking them down

That's one of the best features of the game! I'm really hoping that Shadows has a cult to hunt down, mercenaries to hunt you and forts to clear.

I can't see why they wouldn't because that would mean they deviated from their standard copy and paste template.

Wasn’t planning on buying this but got a copy free with a new CPU so am now looking into it a little more!

I actually really enjoyed Mirage, didn’t bother with Valhalla but did enjoy Odyssey up until it started to really take the **** with ‘travel to this new location 30 actual minutes away with no new fast travel locations near, say hi to one NPC then travel another 20 minutes to another new location with no fast travel location to throw a bird at some children’.

Hoping that at least Shadows is less mindless map chasing, Mirage felt fun to me because it was a ‘smaller’ game and I could explore because I wanted to, not because the game was making me.

Just seen a review on youtube that states Shadows has Bounty Hunters rather than mercenaries - so like the Phylakes in Origins.

I really enjoyed this system in Origins. I remember getting my butt handed to me and not knowing why until it explained.

I just watched a YouTube video by a Japanese guy laughing at everything that actually looks completely Chinese. I think Ubisoft got the countries mixed up. Outstanding

I saw that myself and it cracked me up. They're lucky that the Japanese are relatively easy going and polite. Can you imagine if they made an Assassins Creed in China where everything was Japanese? They tend to be very nationalistic, there would be a lot more noise. I think the people they hired to ensure accuracy for the setting, and they claimed to have done so, need to be blacklisted.

As for Shadows, I'm keeping an eye on it out of morbid curiosity more than anything. As a fan of various types of Asian media it honestly looks awful to me, very poorly researched and put together. Hopefully it plays well but given the state of Ubisoft open world titles of late I'm not expecting much. I actually have a key from a hardware purchase but I'm on the fence on giving it a shot or selling the thing, if not just giving it away.

I bought it for some reason... I skipped all the AC games apart from Black Flag, and half of odyssey

the video with the chinese dragon? and boba tea?

Google tells me boba tea was invented in the 1980s in taiwan,,,

wasnt there supposed to be melons or something even though its the wrong season too

Did the ubisoft team not watch Shogun.

They literally seem to have learned japanese history from memes or anime. It's like they asked AI and the AI gave terrible feedback

People want Shogun the game with the same style and gritty dark atmosphere atmosphere the show had.... its not hard
