Hi everyone, I got my hands on a PowerColor Reaper 9070, took me a little while to rebuild my system into a different case to house it; however I am quite disappointed with the noise of the fans under load.

There is a very annoying whistling/ringing noise that comes from the fans even at lower rpm's, when under load it is really noticeable and by far the loudest component in my system.

Has anyone else has any experience of this? We are close to the return window so need to make a decision, like I said it's really quite disappointing.

You sure it’s from the fans and not actually coil whine? Could try an undervolt and see if that helps

Thanks for the reply, it is 100% the fans as the noise is apparent when not under load and manually ramp fans up with fan control. When fans are forced off under load there is no noise.

Morning. Received my reaper 9070XT with the same 'ringing' noise. Looking at Reddit a few others have the same. If it's the bearing do you think it may resolve itself or will you be looking to return?

In my experience, fan noises never resolve themselves, but may get worse.

If unhappy, RMA, otherwise you will always be thinking negatively about it.

I will be starting the RMA process once more stock has arrived in the country - I have been in contact with PowerColor directly, pretty good comms from them in fairness but they seem to have an issue with these fans...

Sounds like a good idea. I'll likely do the same. Are you thinking direct through PowerColor or through Overclockers? I had heard PowerColors customer service was good to be fair.

That's good, you're right there seems to be quite a few people with this card and it sounds like the bearings are shot, i'm sure Powercolor are aware of it by now and have taken the defective batch of fans out of the assembly lines.

Its not a problem with the type of fan, my Sapphire has the same Dual Ball Bearing type and its one of the quietest cards around, they are among the better fan types and certainly don't sound anything like what you posted  even at 100% speed.

Have contacted OCUK but they are unwilling to issue an replacement without first testing the card themselves, despite the manufacturer asking for the RMA themselves.

Not a great situation really as there is no date for more stock on these cards so guess I will have to be without a PC for as long as it takes, could be weeks at this rate especially if they have a manufacturing issue.

Shame really as the card was good value for money at MRSP but not at the inflated prices - it is the only 9070 that will fit my case so don't know what to do really? Back to Nvidia? :/

Not ideal. I'm in the fortunate position of still having my old components but now I've sampled 4K best settings it will mean going back to a 5700XT for an undefined amount of time.

I just think thats how the fans sound unfortunately. I would be interested in hearing a Powercolor Reaper that doesnt sound like that. I added a small fan on top of mine so it only spins up during games now which isn't too unbearable.

I get what you are saying but even if what you are saying is true then it isn't good enough for a £500+ latest tech card. I can go out tomorrow and buy a 5 year old used card for £150 that wouldn't be that loud.
