Speaking of Stroll, another decent result for him.

Glad you mentioned this. I thought he had a great result for him. With Stroll the disrespect is always loud and he never gets any credit. He's not half as bad as people make out and a lot of it, in my opinion, stems from jealousy and nothing else.

I think they'll promote Hadjar ahead of him.

I still have some confidence in Lawson to come good. Two qualifyings does not a season make.
Would be annoying if they did, and honestly probably wouldn't get more points. They need someone with more experience in that 2nd car, or WDC class rookie.

I am giving Lawson the benefit of the doubt though. Aus is usually a bit of an outlier, and he's only had one short practice session in China and missed his 2nd lap. Will see how the race goes.
They are all currently viewed by Red Bull as placeholders until Lindblad is ready.
Going to be expensive. Probably end up 4th in the WCC this year but maybe a good investment for the future.

I find Stroll frustrating as a driver. He occasionally excels - I still think his podium in Baku in his first season is an absolute stand out drive for a rookie season - and he's had other moments of brilliance over the years but he just doesn't seem to build any consistency or show year-on-year improvement. Especially since arriving at Aston I think he's been disappointing and last year was frankly dreadful. I think he gets more stick than he perhaps deserves, but on the other hand, I don't think he'd be holding onto that seat if it wasn't for the money behind him and his dad's role in the team.

Yeah he's not ever going to be a WDC, even with Newey, but he does have 300% more podiums than the Hulk!

Great pole, Hamilton just had that car locked on from the first turn, hopefully he can get a good start! DRS down that back straight has been powerful so could be multiple lead swaps. The best part of that qualifying is that McLaren aren't miles out front even if you took out their mistakes, so hopefully we can have a good race tomorrow and over the course of the season with 4 teams taking chunks out of each other!

Lawson... Ooft.
Just not sure why they didn't promote Tsunoda to that seat. Keep Lawson in the visa cash whatever it's called racing bull car for a year.
I'm glad that the sharp end has Hamilton and Max and hope we see that for race day too.

In regards to Stroll... It's definitely not jealousy. He'd be better off serving as the plank on the underside, not inside the cockpit. Some good results yes, but there are better drivers.

Lewis's onboard pole lap was a good watch. You can tell he has high confidence in the car which is great to see. Hopefully it carries through for the rest of the weekend! Be nice to see him up there again battling for the top spot!

The grid is so close lately, any mistake and you're going to get punished.
While I'm not overly concerned by Lawson's race pace, the New Zealander needs to get a handle on his qualifying issues pretty quickly if he plans to remain at Red Bull.
Really impressed with Kimi Antonelli's drive in Australia, he did very well in extremely difficult conditions.

It'll take ten races to see where Lawson's really at, he's certainly been dropped in at the deep end (with lead weights on).

The negativity towards him has been pretty brutal from many quarters, I think he's dealing with it quite well all things considered.

Good session - although Sprint Races themselves have tended to be rather dull; Doohan outqualifying Gasly should take some pressure off; Lawson is going to be under sever pressure if he keeps this up though.

Hopefully Ferrari's race pace will be good and we might get a fight, nice lap for Lewis and Max came from nowhere to be 2nd

Wow. Annoyed I saw the result as I wanted to wait till some highlights but very pleased Lewis got pole! Totally forgot the sprint qualification was early on today.

So the Ferrari isn't too bad then. Would love to know what went wrong in Australia for them.

Antonelli showing that he may well be as good as Toto hoped.

Lawson looks a mess at the moment.
